Recent research by the GfK MRI iPanel found that the majority of tablet owners would prefer to read magazines on their devices rather than in print. But, ironically, almost as many said that reading a traditional paper version of a magazine is a “more satisfying” experience. So, what’s missing from the tablet experience? Plenty, it seems.

InDesign CS6 Feature Spotlight: Alternate Layout

One of the most anticipated features in the release of InDesign CS6 was the Alternate Layout function. Alternate Layout allows designers to create multiple versions of the same layout for different formats or devices, within a single InDesign file, saving time and increasing efficiency. The Alternate Layout feature could, for example, be used to create multiple sizes for an ad, all based on the original version, within a single document. Another example is creating a print layout and then adapting it for tablet use, again, within the same document.

This January, we introduced our first iPad App, DPSCreate™: Building Interactive Content, created to help InDesign users produce compelling digital content using Adobe® Digital Publishing Suite™.
