Dear Friend of ESOPUS:

I'm excited to announce that on May 6, 2021, at 6:30 p.m., I will join Michelle Elligott, Chief of Archives, Library, and Research Collections at MoMA, for an in-depth Zoom conversation about our book Modern Artifacts
May 6th is not an arbitrary choice: In fact, it's exactly one year after the date we had originally scheduled to launch the book at the MoMA Archives. Obviously, Covid-19 scotched that plan (and so many others), but we're looking forward to finally gathering—albeit virtually—to celebrate the book's release and its resoundingly enthusiastic critical reception, which included its being featured on a number of "Best of 2020" lists, including those of The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Brooklyn Rail and New York magazine, whose critic Jerry Saltz called it "Incredible...a new scriptorium of art."

During the presentation, Michelle and I will discuss the origins of the original "Modern Artifacts" series in Esopus and our decision to create the book, and we'll share a number of images from the volume as well as those related to its execution and production. We look forward to fielding questions from attendees and anticipate a lively discussion.

I hope you can join us.

All the best,

Tod Lippy
