Newmarket closes the Dog Park until further notice as a safety precaution

NEWMARKET, Ontario, November 3, 2021 – The Town of Newmarket is closing the Newmarket Dog Park (220 Bayview Parkway) until further notice as a safety precaution after concerns were reported about dogs being sick at the dog park.

At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that the dog park is a site for concern. The Town is closing the dog park as a safety precaution in order to conduct a full safety investigation and inspection. Once the investigation is complete, and the dog park is deemed safe, the park will be reopened.

Pet owners are reminded to ensure their pets are up to date with their shots. If your pet is not feeling well, or is not up to date with their shots, avoid areas where pets congregate. Please also remember to keep pets on a leash at all times on public property with the exception of the dog park in accordance with the Town’s Animal Control By-law.
