Beste collega,

Goed nieuws: het nieuwe academische jaar zal uit veel meer fysieke onderwijsactiviteiten bestaan. Eindelijk, na een lange periode van online onderwijs! Zo liet demissionair premier Rutte weten tijdens de persconferentie van 13 augustus. Tegelijkertijd doen we er alles aan om de nieuwe mogelijkheden vanaf 30 augustus zorgvuldig te benutten, uiteraard met oog op alle vragen en zorgen die er leven.

Zo kan vanaf de start van het collegejaar de 1,5 meter maatregel losgelaten worden. Dit biedt perspectief voor het aanbieden van fysiek onderwijs. Toch zal er nog sprake zijn van een aantal restricties met ingang van 30 augustus. Bijvoorbeeld: bij verplaatsing in de gangen en in gebouwen draag je verplicht een mondkapje; zittend in een onderwijsruimte/ achter je bureau hoeft dit niet. Dit geldt voor zowel studenten als medewerkers. Let wel: daar waar het kan, blijven we afstand van elkaar houden! Stewards wijzen studenten en bezoekers bovendien actief op de maatregelen.

We hebben met elkaar de verantwoordelijkheid om goed met deze versoepelingen om te gaan. We vragen iedereen die nog niet gevaccineerd is: laat je goed voorlichten over het belang van vaccinaties en maak op basis daarvan een afweging. Hoe hoger de vaccinatiegraad, hoe waarschijnlijker het is dat we zonder enige beperkingen weer fysiek onderwijs kunnen gaan èn blijven geven. En dat ook onze andere activiteiten gewoon kunnen doorgaan. We kunnen allemaal bijdragen aan de mogelijkheden voor fysiek onderwijs.

Onderwijsactiviteiten

In de persconferentie is gesproken over een maximale groepsgrootte. Dit betekent dat de onderwijsactiviteiten met meer dan 75 studenten moeten worden aangepast. Dat betreft zo’n 15% van de onderwijsactiviteiten. Dit percentage is niet gelijk verdeeld over de faculteiten en/of opleidingen. Faculteiten gaan bekijken hoe ze dit kunnen aanpassen. Volg hierover de eigen communicatie vanuit de faculteiten. Met name voor de grotere opleidingen betekent dit waarschijnlijk dat er voor hybride oplossingen gekozen moet worden.

• Er zullen zo min mogelijk grootschalige aanpassingen in dag en tijd worden gedaan aan het reeds gepubliceerde onderwijsrooster van 15 juli (te vinden op Mytimetable). 
• Studenten en docenten worden aangeraden om hun rooster regelmatig te checken op timetables.eur.nl om eventuele wijzingen tijdig tot zich te nemen.
• Studenten en docenten worden aangeraden om de berichtgeving vanuit de faculteit met betrekking tot het rooster in de gaten te houden.
• Voor de studieruimten in de bibliotheek geldt ook een maximum van 75 personen per zelfstandige ruimte.

Werken op de campus

In principe blijven we thuiswerken, maar met de versoepelingen voor onderwijsactiviteiten, zijn er wel uitzonderingen. Zeker voor wat betreft de onderwijsgerelateerde en/of ondersteunende werkzaamheden denk hierbij aan baliemedewerkers. We vragen medewerkers om nog zoveel mogelijk thuis te werken, tenzij dit echt niet mogelijk is. Bespreek met je leidinggevende wat dit voor jou betekent. Dit geldt ook voor medewerkers die juist liever thuis werken, bijvoorbeeld omdat ze tot kwetsbare groep behoren wat betreft hun gezondheid of die van een gezinslid.

Onderzoek op de campus

Onderzoeksactiviteiten op de campus kunnen doorgaan als deze strikt locatiegebonden zijn. Het onderzoek is afgeschaald naar het minimaal noodzakelijke niveau.

Zelftesten en vaccineren voor studenten en medewerkers

We adviseren studenten en medewerkers zich bij klachten te laten testen bij een GGD-testlocatie en twee keer per week middels een thuistest. Uiteraard blijven ook de basis hygiëneregels gelden. Op www.zelftestonderwijs.nl zijn gratis zelftesten te bestellen. Met de inzet van zelftesten wil de overheid inzetten op het sneller opsporen van besmettingen om op die manier zoveel mogelijk corona-uitbraken te voorkomen. Voor je bestelling kun je gebruik maken van je bestaande instellingsaccount. Het afnemen van een zelftest is altijd vrijwillig. Het hebben van een negatief testresultaat is niet voorwaardelijk voor studenten of medewerkers voor toegang tot het onderwijs. Het is dus niet verplicht en het is je eigen verantwoordelijkheid om een test te gebruiken. Studenten en medewerkers hoeven geen bewijs van een negatieve test te laten zien om toegang te krijgen tot de onderwijsinstelling.

Vaccineren is eenvoudig te regelen. Bij de GGD kun je op een aantal locaties zonder afspraak een coronavaccin krijgen. Schuttersveld in Crooswijk is dichtbij en goed bereikbaar met het OV of de fiets en anders is er nog de SS-Rotterdam. Kijk voor meer informatie op de website van de GGD Rijnmond. Dear colleague,

Good news: in the new academic year, there will be more physical education again. At last, after a long period of online education! So announced outgoing Prime Minister Rutte during the press conference on 13 August. At the same time, we are doing everything we can to make careful use of the new opportunities from 30 August onwards, obviously with an eye to all the questions and concerns that exist.

For instance, from the start of the academic year, the 1.5-metre measure can be abandoned. This offers opportunities for the provision of physical education. However, a number of restrictions will still apply from 30 August. For example: when moving around in the corridors and buildings, you must wear a face mask; this is not required when sitting in a teaching room/at your desk. This applies to both students and staff. Note: where possible, please keep your distance from each other! Stewards also actively point out the measures to students and visitors.

Together we have a responsibility to deal with these relaxations properly. We ask everyone who has not yet been vaccinated to educate themselves about the importance of vaccinations and to weigh up the options. The higher the vaccination rate, the more likely it is that we will be able to continue our physical education without any restrictions. And, also that our other activities can continue as usual. We can all contribute to these opportunities to have physical education.

Educational activities

In the press conference, a maximum group size was discussed. This means that educational activities with more than 75 students will need to be adjusted. This concerns about 15% of the educational activities. This percentage is not equally distributed over the faculties and/or programmes. Faculties will examine how they can adjust this. Follow the faculties' own communications about this. For the larger courses in particular, this probably means hybrid solutions.

• There will be as few large-scale adjustments as possible in day and time to the already published teaching timetable of 15 July  (to be found on mytimetable).
• Students and lecturers are advised to regularly check their timetables on timetables.eur.nl to take note of any changes in time.
• Students and lecturers are advised to keep an eye on the announcements made by the faculty with regard to the timetable.
• For the study rooms in the library, a maximum of 75 persons per independent room also applies.

Working on campus

In principle, we will continue to work at home, but with the relaxation for educational activities, there are exceptions. This applies in particular to education-related and/or support activities, such as counter staff. We ask employees to work at home as much as possible, unless this is really not possible. Discuss what this means for you with your manager. This also applies to employees who prefer to work at home, for example because they belong to a vulnerable group in terms of their health or that of a family member.
 

Research on campus

Research activities on campus can continue if they are strictly site-specific. Research is scaled down to the minimum necessary level.

Self-testing and vaccination for students and employees

We advise students and employees to get themselves tested at a Municipal Health Service (GGD) test site in case of health complaints and to take a home test twice a week. Of course, the basic hygiene rules continue to apply. Free self-tests can be ordered at www.zelftestonderwijs.nl. With the use of self-tests, the government wants to focus on the faster detection of infections in order to prevent as many corona outbreaks as possible. To order, you can use your existing institutional account. Taking a self-test is always voluntary. Having a negative test result is not a prerequisite for students or staff to be admitted to education. It is therefore not compulsory and it is your own responsibility to use a test. Students and staff do not have to show proof of a negative test in order to gain access to the educational institution.

Vaccination is easy to arrange. At the GGD you can get a corona vaccine at a number of locations without an appointment. Schuttersveld in Crooswijk is close by and easy to reach by public transport or bicycle, and if not, there is the SS-Rotterdam. For more information, visit the GGD Rijnmond website.
