The Nelson Waldorf School will be open tomorrow Tuesday, Sept 15, 2020, and for the rest of the week. We are putting in place strategies of mitigating the smoky air as best as possible, with the health of the children and staff as our priority. Having a planning day for us to ensure the wellbeing of your children was very much appreciated. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.
Starting Tuesday, please feel free to keep your child home if the smoke is overly bothersome for them. You are also welcome to do an early pick up as outlined below.
Many classrooms have a central air filtration system that we will have on throughout the day and night. Air purifiers are being placed in those classrooms that do not have a central filtration system. Classroom doors and windows will be kept closed as much as possible, but a certain amount of smoke is to be expected.
Teachers will be having indoor lessons all day with indoor recesses and quieter, low-key activities. Indoor spaces such as the Eurythmy room, the gym and the music room will be available for use by each class.
All children will go directly to their classes where their teachers will greet them. Subject Teachers and Teaching Assistants will take the younger children in Classes 1-3 up as they arrive. Kindergarten parents, please park and bring your child up to your child’s classroom outside door, where your child will be greeted.
EARLY PICK UP
For those considering a shortened day, a suggested early pickup time is 12:50 pm for the upper grades, and 12:30 pm if you have a child in the childcare centre to collect. Please call Keitha at the Front Office, 250-352-6919, if you are planning an early pickup so we can arrange this.
END-OF-DAY DEPARTURE 3:10 PM
We will continue our regular pick-up schedule and protocol in the lower parking lot with pick-up and drive-through lanes. As usual, follow the direction of the parking lot helpers.
The bus will run as usual, departing at 3:20 pm.
Here’s to a happy week ahead for the children. Please prepare them for a gentler experience, and thank you for your continued support!
