Finding the Right Mix

When formulating UV curable coatings, both resin selection and additive choice influence the final properties of a cured film. This is especially true when you are trying to obtain adhesion across a range of substrates. As illustrated by the data below, GENORAD* 40 by itself can be used with a variety of resin types to improve adhesion to aluminum substrates. Even here, resin choice had an effect on the loading level required to obtain optimal adhesion. On more difficult substrates such as steel and stainless steel (SS), we found a blend of both GENORAD* 40 and GENOMER* 7302 were necessary for good adhesion. Once again, we saw that different levels of addition yielded different results depending on the resin involved.
