The Official Launch of Future Leaders Advocacy and Advisory Group (FLAAG) is here!

The Future Leaders Advocacy & Advisory Group (FLAAG) is a group of individuals who will help drive a more equitable environment at Boston College. The advisory and advocacy group will act as thought partners with the Carroll Graduate School Administration to support social and racial justice initiatives at the Carroll Graduate School of Management. The group will collectively make decisions around the future state of critical organizational processes and community engagement efforts to achieve its mission. FLAAG’s vision for success is an organizational culture where diversity thrives, inclusion and belonging are the norm, and equity in all forms is the outcome.

Values and Guiding Principles:

COLLECTIVE LEADERSHIP - The capacity to create space that enables relationship-building, difficult conversations, learning, co-creation of a shared vision, and collaborative action.

LEARNING & EVALUATION - The ongoing assessment of change in system conditions that accelerate or impede progress, and engaging others in the system with this data.

NARRATIVE CHANGE - Framing and/or re-framing an issue, through information, stories, and insights in ways that shift mindsets to open up new possibilities for action.

POLICY - Working for change in laws, policies, and standards to enable systemic change at the local, state, country, or global level.

POWER ANALYSIS - Uncovering the policies and practices that perpetuate systemic and structural inequities based on race, gender, class, and/or economic disparity.

INTEGRATING INNOVATION - Introducing innovation into policies and practices of institutional systems through in-system partners.

COMMUNICATION - The act of sharing information and insights with key partners and system actors.

FLAAG Group Structure:

A new position has been created within the Graduate Management Association (GMA) to connect FLAAG to existing Graduate program resources and communications. The Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging will head up the FLAAG group.

Get Involved

We're looking for 5-7 change-makers to join FLAAG. For more information about the FLAAG Committee and Community Engagement teams, please see the Google Form below. You do not need an understanding of systems change work or experience developing DEI-related outcomes to join this advisory group.

Please complete this Google Form by Wednesday, September 16, 2020, if interested! FLAAG and the GMA will review responses to build a small (but mighty!) team.
