Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith was appointed as a co-chair for President-Elect Joe Biden's "Virus Taskforce".  We are honored that she is serving as our inaugural keynote speaker for our 1st Annual Health Equity Summit! Be sure to join us virtual to congratulate her, ask questions, and engage!  She will present on "Getting the House Ready:  Preparing to Diversify the Workforce"

Dr. Nunez-Smith is an Associate Professor of Medicine (General Medicine) and of Epidemiology (Chronic Diseases); Yale Faculty Representative (elected), Council of Faculty and Academic Societies (CFAS); Co-Chair, Steering Committee on Community Projects; Medical Student Academic Advisor, Yale School of Medicine; Director, Center for Community Engagement and Health Equity; Founding Director, Equity Research and Innovation Center (ERIC), Yale School of Medicine; Director, Center for Research Engagement (CRE); Deputy Director for Health Equity.

Dr. Octavio Martinez is an Associate Vice President for the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement at UT Austin, Executive Director of the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health; and a clinical professor of psychiatry with the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio.  He sits on a number of national boards, from the CDC to the Trust for America's Health.

Dr. Ryan Sutton has his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Howard University, where he also worked within the DC Superior Courts performing forensic assessments with youth.  He currently serves as the Director of the Heman Sweatt Center for Black Males and the Director of the Community Integrated Health Initiative (CIHI) within the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement.

Last month, we brought Dr. Jewell Mullen, M.D., MPH, the associate dean for health equity at the Dell Medical School, as well as an associate professor in the school’s population health and internal medicine departments, as part of our CIHI Health Equity lecture series.
Daniel Dawes, JD discussed his book "The Political Determinants of Health" as we unpacked the political and social issues undergirding health inequity in this country.  You will want to check this out!
