PASCAL International Observatory Site Digest

We are all preoccupied with friends and family, activities planned long ago are suspended, projects that once looked important are now put to one side because there are new questions to ask and to try to answer. This is where PASCAL comes in - and hopefully, into your home office or make-do library.

I hope that you will make the same effort that I am making to write for the PASCAL site, to share thoughts, observations, and yes concerns.  I hope to have something for you to read on what we still need to learn from the crisis of 2008 about a recovery plan for cities. The climate change and health agendas are going to be hard to bring together.

The crisis will keep us apart but the website will bring us together.  Read the PASCAL Digest and visit the PASCAL family of sites!

The Recovery Will Happen in Public Space | Placemaking Weekly

Written by Susan Kelly on May 17, 2020 12:07 pm

This newsletter from the Project for Public Spaces connects people who share a passion for public spaces to ideas and issues, news, quotes, places, and events from the placemaking movement. Last week, 25 million Americans returned to public life. As more and more governors in the US relax their stay-at-home orders and restrictions on businesses, that number will only grow, even as coronavirus cases around the country remain higher than public health experts would prefer. We are at a precarious moment as a country, where we must balance safety and recovery.
