GMC August Newsletter

August Newsletter

To ensure that you continue receiving GMC E-Newsletters and Communications, you will need to renew your annual GMC Membership by August 31, 2016.
Dear Fellow Gonzaga Moms,
This first Gonzaga Mothers Club (GMC) E-Newsletter welcomes you to the start of the 2016-2017 school year.  It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over!  While you are enjoying the last few weeks of August and looking forward to the upcoming school year, please take time to join the GMC or renew your annual GMC membership, if you haven’t done so already.  Please make sure you check out all our activities for the year and start planning where you would like to get involved.  A Sign Up Genius will come out closer to the date.  You will be rewarded with the support and friendship of other Gonzaga Moms, as well as appreciation and thanks from our sons and the entire Gonzaga community.  Please sign up, volunteer, and join us in the fun!  Even if you are not able to volunteer at this time, please consider joining, because only current GMC members will receive the latest news updates, stay in the loop with friendly and helpful reminders, and have first access to sign-ups for GMC events.
Not sure if you or your friends are already members?  Click here to see the list of current-GMC-members.

The next Gala meeting is Tuesday, August 30 at 6:30 pm in the Jesuit Dining Room.  Please join Gala Chairs, Kathy Kirvan, Andrea Mellado and Kimberly Notarianni, to learn more about the exciting plans for Nutcracker Suite on Eye Street and find out how you can get involved.
The year is off to a busy start on Eye Street, so be sure to mark your calendar for all of the wonderful events and activities shown below.
There are several upcoming GMC activities in August and September that are looking for volunteers or new members, and these events are highlighted in this E-Newsletter.  Please contact the event chairs if you are able to help or would like more information.  We thank you for your involvement and look forward to seeing you at Gonzaga!
Thank You!
I would like to send huge thanks to all who have already joined the GMC, and have signed up to help in so many ways.  Your enthusiasm, support, and giving spirit allow the Gonzaga Mothers Club to serve the Gonzaga community and have a great time doing it!

Ignatian Reflection and Prayer Group

  • What is the spirituality that informs your sons’ Jesuit education?
  • Do you wonder what A.M.D.G. means?
  • Would you like to find a short prayer that can help you find God in your daily life?

Whether your son is a freshman or a senior, you are welcome to join other Gonzaga moms who want to know more about the words, phrases and spirituality that are woven into a Jesuit education.

We will ask you to read brief sections from books written by Jesuits, share your learning with a small group, and be introduced to simple ways of praying, even if you are not familiar with Ignatian forms of prayer. Each session will be facilitated by Martina O’Shea who, for the past seven years has been the Pastoral Associate for Ignatian Spirituality and Prayer at Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown.

No need to sign-up, come once or every month!

The GMC, in cooperation with the Headmaster's Office, works with host families to prepare guest lists and schedule dates for small get-togethers to welcome incoming freshman and transfer student families. If you are interested in assisting with this fun way to welcome new families to Gonzaga, the GMC has some easy and simple ideas to get you started.
