GMC August Newsletter

To ensure that you continue receiving GMC E-Newsletters and Communications, you will need to renew your annual GMC Membership by August 31, 2015.
Dear Fellow Gonzaga Moms,
This first Gonzaga Mothers Club (GMC) E-Newsletter welcomes you to the start of the 2015-2016 school year.  It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over!  While you are enjoying the last few weeks of August and looking forward to the upcoming school year, please take time to join the GMC or renew your annual GMC membership, if you haven’t done so already.  When you pay and register online, please review the descriptions of the various GMC activities and select where you would like to volunteer.  You will be rewarded with the support and friendship of other Gonzaga Moms, as well as appreciation and thanks from our sons and the entire Gonzaga community.  Please sign up, volunteer, and join us in the fun!  Even if you are not able to volunteer at this time, please consider joining, because only current GMC members will receive the latest news updates, stay in the loop with friendly and helpful reminders, and have first access to sign-ups for GMC events.
Not sure if you or your friends are already members?  Click here to see the list of current-GMC-members.
Mark your calendars now for the first Gonzaga Mothers Club General Membership meeting on Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30pm in the Lower Commons.  Father Planning, our wonderful moderator, will share with us all the news and happenings at Gonzaga as we begin the new school year.  Meetings are usually on the second Wednesday of the month, with a few exceptions.  Please see the list of GMC General Membership meetings for the year: GMC Meeting Dates
The next Gala meeting is Tuesday, September 1 at 6:30 pm in the Jesuit Dining Room.  Please join Gala Chairs, T. Barron and Ana Rivas-Beck, to learn more about the exciting plans for Miracle on Eye Street and find out how you can get involved.
The year is off to a busy start on Eye Street, so be sure to mark your calendar for all of the wonderful events and activities shown below.
There are several upcoming GMC activities in August and September that are looking for volunteers or new members, and these events are highlighted in this E-Newsletter.  Please contact the event chairs if you are able to help or would like more information.  We thank you for your involvement and look forward to seeing you at Gonzaga!
Thank You!

Sincere thanks to all of you who have already joined the GMC and signed up to help in so many ways.  Your enthusiasm, support, and giving spirit allow the Gonzaga Mothers Club to serve the Gonzaga community and have a great time doing it!
See you on Eye Street soon,
Suzanne Dowd

GMC Ignatian Reflection and Prayer Group
YOU ARE INVITED to join a terrific group of Gonzaga moms who meet on the second Friday of each month to explore Ignatian spirituality, which is at the heart of our sons’ education, and reflect on how to put it into practice in our lives.  We discuss relevant literature and join in prayer for our sons, the Gonzaga community, and any special intentions.  Our spiritual directors are Fr. Gap LoBiando and Fr. Joe Sobierajski.
PLEASE JOIN US on Friday, September 11, 2015 (8:00 – 9:00 a.m., in the parlor next to the Jesuit Dining Room).  To kick off the school year, Fr. Joe will give an overview of Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises.  Beginning in October, we’ll be reviewing and discussing Pope Francis’s encyclical, “The Joy of the Gospel.”
Contact Mary Plantamura for more info.
Freshmen need the Writing Project, the Gonzaga Reader, and a Sketch Pad if taking Basic Art.
Seniors will need Systematic Theology.

Club & Team Parent Managers
One of the best fundraisers, and loved by all the boys, is to host a bake sale for your team/club.
The 2015-2016 Bake Sale SignUpGenius has been set up for the 2015-2016 year.  Many sports teams and clubs have already signed up to host a bake sale as a fundraiser.  Initially, ONE bake sale date per club is allowed. Extra dates will be by lottery to fill the available slots. Refer to the bake sale information sheet on the GMC section of the Gonzaga website for the bake sale guidelines!
