It's Good Friday, the day we as Christians remember the painful sacrifice of Jesus, the Son of God for our sins. The cross was the goal from the very beginning and His high priestly work was completed: mission accomplished! Our Savior and Lord overcame death and defeated the grave that we too might live forever with Him. Remember Him during this weekend in history. Hallelujah! Christ the Lord has risen!

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3

Yesterday with Dave Wager, we talked about how the inconveniences and minor irritants of our lives can easily become "suffering" to us. Today, we look at Christians who are really suffering for the sake of Jesus Christ.

Todd Nettleton of Voice of the Martyrs joins us to discuss how Christians around the world are being imprisoned, beaten and even killed for their faith in Jesus Christ. And we look at the new movie Tortured for Christ along with the brand new book Wurmbrand: the stories of the lives of Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand.

Todd shares some amazing stories from a recent trip to Romania where he visited the actual prison Richard and Sebina Wurmbrand were held. Richard was there 14 years.

In our final segment, we share a perspective from conservative columnist Ben Shapiro about a vicious cycle: Politicians make promises, we elect them based on those promises, they break their promises, and we keep reelecting them - a sort of political insanity.

He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. Luke 24:44-48

A Matter of Perspective

How we look at things is so important. We have our human perspectives; God has truth. If we insist on our perspective as better than His truth we are in deep trouble.

Troubles and suffering are a part of life. But more and more we are being told we should lead a life free of stress or suffering. But that directly contradicts the truth of God's Word. And today's parents seem focused on making sure their children are never in a position where they could suffer in any way, shape of form. But are we helping our children when we hover and over protect them? or setting them up for a life of unrealistic expectations leading to misery and depression?

Dave Wager of Nicolet Bible Institute joins us this morning.

Committed Evangelists or Cheesy Salesmen?

As true born-again believers, we are committed to the Bible as the eternally true and sufficient, inspired Word of God. Committed believers in Christ all claim this, but do we truly believe it or are we just parroting what others say because that is just what Christian say?

Can we give a convincing defense for our faith in God's Word? Because the world sees it with extreme skepticism and they will poke and prod, testing our commitment to the Lord and the Bible. And if they can poke holes in our defenses, they can discredit our witness to the gospel of salvation.

God can save anyone; but we as Christians have been commanded to share the gospel and make disciples. In order to do this effectively, it helps to cultivate a strong, foundation and unshakable faith in God and His Word.

Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project joins us to help us answer this question: "How can we know that the Bible is the inspired Word of God?"

Teaching Our Children to be Moral and Responsible

Teaching our children to be moral people and take personal responsibility for their beliefs and actions used to be a foundation of education in our nation. But since the 1960s we have practically abandoned what the Bible teaches us about discipline in the raising and educating of our children. Americans turned the responsibility over to the federal government, and we wonder why our children lack common sense, respect, and personal responsibility for their actions.

Our guest this morning, John Rosemond, tried doing things the world's way. He is a licensed Psychologist who now speaks about the dangers of Psychology, and how we are raising our children to be self-worshipers and in essence, raising them with an "emphasized esteem for the almighty self."
