Literacy Studies Scholar Honored

Harvey GraffHarvey Graff, Ohio Eminent Scholar in Literacy Studies and professor of English and history, presented The Legacies of Literacy Studies at the annual meeting of the Conference on College Composition and Communication.

The Lantern Garners Awards

The Lantern won 10 awards, including best website and best online sports reporting, at the Society of Professional Journalists Region 4 competition.

Barnett Symposium: May 17 & 18

Barnett Symposium 2012The 2012 Lawrence and Isabel Barnett Symposium, Cultural Soft Power: Policy, Practice, and the Arts, explores arts-related cultural policies and programs of a number of countries. The symposium aims to improve our understanding of how the arts contribute to advancing the interests of nations. Registration is now open.

Town Hall Meeting: April 18

The second ASC Staff Advisory Council Town Hall Meeting is April 18, 3:30-4:30 pm at the Drake Theatre. Executive dean and vice provost Joe Steinmetz and deans will answer questions submitted by staff at the ASC SAC pancake breakfasts. Submit your questions by April 11.

Kathryn Sullivan Scholarship: Deadline April 13

The Kathryn Sullivan scholarship supports undergraduate arts and sciences students, preference for junior or senior women majoring or minoring in the sciences, who have a passion for exploration and/or aerospace. Contact Ann Rottersman.

Linguistics Summer Camp for High School Students

The Department of Linguistics is accepting registration for its Summer Linguistics Institute for Youth Scholars (SLIYS), a week-long summer program in July for high school students. For more information, contact Julie McGory.

Joan CashinDepartment of History Professor, Joan Cashin, will lecture on C-Span at 8 pm and midnight, March 31, and 1 pm, April 1. Cashin’s lecture will examine the Abolitionist and Women's Suffrage Movements in the early part of the 19th century.
