A Message from Karen Boselly:
I have been very proud to serve as President of NCR for the past six years. It has been extremely rewarding and educational to say the least. I have been with collie rescue for 16 years. It's incredible the massive numbers of collies we have rescued and what we have accomplished as a group. We are very proud of our reputation in the rescue world and strive to achieve the highest level of integrity in everything we do. In my opinion, our group is one of the most caring, honest, hard working rescue groups around. I can honestly say that this group of rescuers have hearts of gold and handle our rescued dogs as we would our own. We have shed countless tears, both of joy and sadness, for our beloved collies saved over the years. We are proud to be here for them.

It is bittersweet now that the time has come for me to pass the gavel. We recently elected a new President to lead our team. We also made other changes to our board of directors.

Our wonderful Lauren Caudill joined us in 2011. What a breath of fresh air she has been to us and to the collies. She was thrown right in as soon as she arrived. She became our Secretary, and most importantly an Area Coordinator. She doesn’t know the word no. Any job, no matter how big, she has given her all. She has incredible organization skills and has implemented many new and better ways for us to run our nonprofit organization. She also started up our collie fun day gathering again! There is no stopping this amazing collie rescuer. And now we welcome her as our newest President. Long may she reign! Congratulations Lauren.

I will remain on the board as Vice President. Mary Callaham (Lauren’s Mom) who has been our fantastic VP for six years and an area coordinator for ten years will take over as our new Secretary. Mary is also in charge of sending out our thank you notes and is our resident artist. Cristen Shinbashi has been our back bone and treasurer since 2008 and will remain so. Cristen took that huge job over for us when we lost our champion and mentor Cathy Toft. Cristen has done an outstanding job managing our books and finances while raising her two small children and working full time. Charlene Logan Burnett is our director in charge of our newsletter, social media, and other email correspondence. Charlene has taken a lesser role as an Area Coordinator, but is our go-to foster home for senior collies.

Many thanks to our Area Coordinators:
  • Karen Boselly - San Joaquin county, Central Valley, Reno Nv.
  • Lauren Caudill - Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco Counties
  • Mary Callaham - Monterey and San Benito Counties
  • Tim Callaham - Santa Cruz County
  • Karen Cavallo - Solono and Yolo Counties
  • Jean Roberts - Napa and Sonoma Counties (Co-AC- Tracey Fleming)
  • Francesca Schrick - Contra Costa and Alameda Counties

Got Photos!

We need quality photos for our popular NorCal Collie Rescue Calendars. Send your photo submissions or any questions about the calendar photos to Andrea Moss by September 30, 2016.

Traditionally, we produce four calendars:
  • Collie Portraits
  • Collie Fun
  • Collies with Friends
  • Rainbow Bridge
If we have enough quality submissions for other calendars—Scenery, Puppy—we will add more. Last year we had eight! Check them out at our Cafe Press store.

Photos need to be good quality and large enough (at least 500kb) to format for our calendars. (Reminder--just because a photo looks good on your smart phone or computer does not mean it is suitable for print. Additional info on size HERE.) If not sure, ask Andrea. Horizontal photos work best. Please, no humans. The collies need to have a good expression and look presentable. Many people buy our calendars—we even have international fans!

We prioritize submissions. NCR rescue collies have priority and then other rescue collies or collies of rescuers, volunteers, and donors.

Fifty percent of all sales purchased through our store goes directly to helping NCR collies in need. Our Calendars are also a great way to showcase the wonderful lives our rescue collies go on to lead in their furever homes.

Send calendar questions and submissions to Andrea Moss.
Collie Fun Day! - Don't miss this year's fun!
Save the Date - Oct. 15, 2016.
You do not want to miss this event--COLLIE FUN DAY! There is no better place to enjoy collies--tons of collies. Spend the day or drop in to participate in the day of fun.

Email Lauren about volunteering or attending this exciting event held in Morgan Hill, CA. Detailed event info to follow in September. Collie-friendly camping and hotels in area.
Glimmer Today
Our Glimmer of hope is nine months old now. She completed her puppy classes and even entered an obedience competition! She is fit, active and healthy. She is scheduled for her final Echocardiogram at UC Davis in September. We are confidant she will pass with flying colors.

We are very grateful for all of the helping hands that allowed Glimmer the chance at a long happy life. And the love and prayers sent by so many. It is said that "together we save them." No truer words can be said in Glimmer’s case.

Thank you to everyone who supported and followed Glimmer’s journey.
