If you have no major purpose, you are drifting toward certain failure.
Not having a major purpose for your life is like trying to navigate without a chart. You may eventually get somewhere you like, or you may drift aimlessly, always hoping to find — but never finding — the place where you would like to be. As you grow as a person, so will your major purpose. It is the natural order of things that, when you reach the top of one mountain, you will look around for higher peaks to climb. In life, either you are moving forward or you are going backward. When you plot your course carefully and thoughtfully, you can ensure that you are going in the right direction.
Dear Napoleon: The Living Legacy of Napoleon Hill and Think and Grow Rich:
An Official Publication of the Napoleon Hill Foundation
Discover the success secrets of individuals who have transformed their lives by internalizing and applying Napoleon Hill’s achievement philosophy.
Have you ever read a book by an author and it immediately changed you—your outlook on life, your relationships, your personal initiative, and your ability to withstand adversity? That is the common experience of those who have read the books of Napoleon Hill, especially his seminal Think and Grow Rich. This book collects the stories of real people whose lives have been altered by the work and wisdom of Napoleon Hill. With very few exceptions, none of the people included in this book ever met Hill directly, but they entered into a timeless mentorship or mastermind relationship with him through his many publications.
When you read this book, you will gain insight into how real people translate Hill’s philosophy of success into actions that forever alter the course of their lives. From multi-millionaires to teachers, counselors to humanitarians, the individuals who share Hill’s impact on their lives prove that Hill’s success system is more than a theory; it is a powerful program of achievement with enduring real-world application. Assembled by synthesizing the collective knowledge of hundreds of the most prosperous people of his era—including Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and many others—Hill’s Science of Success provides practical steps for building financial, mental, and spiritual wealth. Similarly, the people who submitted “Dear Napoleon” letters for this book do not express their theoretical understanding of Hill’s principles; rather, they candidly share their real-life experiences with the power of Napoleon Hill’s philosophy of success. Take a journey into the trials and celebrations, failures and successes, of the individuals featured in this book, and acquire a clear sense of how you can apply Hill’s success concepts to great effect.

Napoleon Hill’s Original Master Class on Individual Achievement
Before the landmark book Think and Grow Rich came The Law of Success, an eight-volume series in which Hill presents the complete Science of Success philosophy. Originally published in 1928, this success system contains sixteen lessons on personal achievement, gleaned from interviews with and research on over 500 top performers from various industries and walks of life. Now condensed for your convenience into one compact volume curated by the Trustees of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, The Law of Success details the exact steps by which any individual can harness the power of thought to turn their dreams into reality. This is much more than a guide or roadmap; it is a total lifestyle makeover, with concrete resources for everyday application. If you are serious about becoming the best version of yourself in your field, your relationships, your health, and your finances, then you are ready for the original master class on success.
~ A message from the executive director and CEO of the Napoleon Hill Foundation ~
There have been many requests over the years for a version that is more concise and compact yet contains the core lessons discovered and set forth in the discussion of the sixteen success principles. The Trustees of the Napoleon Hill Foundation heard these requests and took on the task of producing such a book, containing what they viewed as the essential lessons and most important portions of the original work, and what you are about to read is the result. This version has dispensed with the third party quotations and “After the Lesson” essays in the original work, deleted some stories that were repeated in other of Hill’s books published after 1928, and eliminated repetition (rightly valued by Mr. Hill as a learning method but not appropriate for a compact volume.) The Trustees believe, and hope you will agree, that the resulting volume contains all the essential wisdom of this groundbreaking work, Law of Success.
I have been the Executive Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation since 2000, and I and the other Trustees who contributed to this work have nearly 200 years combined years of service to the Foundation. I believe they are singularly equipped to produce the best distillation of Napoleon Hill’s seminal work and am proud to present this book for your enjoyment, appreciation, and education.
