A Note from
Our Principal

Greetings Hornet Hive,

Congratulations to our girls softball team for advancing to the second round of playoffs! They play tomorrow at ODC off TC Jester and 34th at 4:30. Wear your blue and gold and uniform bottoms to school tomorrow to support our Lady Hornets!

Two of our own placed at the Archdiocesan Poetry Fest held this morning. Allie Ollenburg placed 1st for 8th grade Haiku and Nick Lopez placed 3rd for Western style poetry for 6th grade. They did an excellent job representing St. Ambrose!

This Thursday is our Holy Thursday retreat with a noon dismissal. We’re looking forward to spending the day with the students and growing deeper in our faith together. Holy Thursday Mass will be at 7pm, I’d love for you to join me.

In observance of Easter, the school will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. We look forward to seeing you back here on Tuesday!

Don’t forget if you’re free May 4th we’re having our Cornhole Classic starting at 3pm. See below for more details.

Have a wonderful week!

In Christ,

Ms. McDonald

Softball Update

Congratulations to the Lady Hornets Softball team on their win against St. Christopher’s in round 1 of the GHCAA Playoffs. The Lady Hornets will take on St. Laurence at 4:30pm on Wednesday at Oaks Dads Club in round 2 of the playoffs!

After yesterday’s victory, the team celebrated our 7 eighth graders that have lead this group for at least three years.

DECATS Talent Identification Program

St. Ambrose participates in three Talent Search programs: Johns Hopkins University for grades 2nd - 8th, DUKE University for grades 4th & 5th and 7th, and DECATS for grades 3rd - 6th. We are very fortunate to have so many of our students nominated for these programs.

At this time we would like to recognize those students who are eligible to take part in DECATS.

Since 1994, Scholars accepted for DECATS are students from grades three through six who have demonstrated achievement or shown potential in such areas as general intellectual ability, specific subject matter aptitude, creative and critical thinking, leadership, and task commitment. Scholars who graduate from the program join over 2,000 alumni who have been part of the DECATS legacy. Students must score in the 95% in certain standardized test areas. DECATS is a three-week summer session that takes place in June at Corpus Christi Catholic School, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, St. Laurence Catholic School and St. Anne Catholic School in Houston, Texas.
We are very excited to nominate 42 St. Ambrose Students!

Each year the entire school participates in Field Day. The Parent Organization purchases one T-shirt for each St. Ambrose student (so no need to send money for their shirts). The teachers will submit sizes based on the uniform sizes your child wears.

Field day is fast approaching and we are asking for volunteers to help set up, work and break down the concession stand for the day. This is always a fun and exciting event for the kids and our concession stand gets very busy! These hours do count toward your volunteer requirements for the year.

If you are able to help, please sign up to work an hour shift. We are also in need of crock pots, ice chest and pop up tents for the day. If you are able to offer one for the day please sign up for that as well. We will need these items by 7:30am that morning and you may pick up at the end of the day by 2:30pm. CLICK HERE to signup!

We meet behind the school in the men's club kitchen, this is where the concession stand is set up.

Please contact Melissa Ortiz with any questions.
