June already.  It has been a full on year so far working with organisations, their leaders and their people across the country.   I love the work that I do, working with leaders and their teams to develop them to be the best they can be and where they want to give their best.  This often means letting go of the old ways and taking on new ways of thinking, doing and being.  


‚ÄčI applied the same thinking to myself - what do I need to do to enhance my own skills, knowledge and thinking?  Over the past 4 months I stepped back into learner's shoes as I updated my coaching skills and practice to align with the International Coach Federation (ICF) framework and gain an ICF recognised qualification (which I did!).  The opportunity to work with, and learn from,  some of New Zealand's best coaches has been inspirational.  My learnings - what's worked for you in the past won't work for  you in the future.  The need to keep learning and adapt is vital to ensuring that our skills, the how of what we do, remains relevant in the VUCA world we operate in.  

I've been doing a lot of work in the Team development space - working to bring teams back on track or to take good teams to great.  Read more about that below.

Re-setting Teams


The DNA of high performing teams is characterised by a number of things : strong, trusted relationships; clear goals and sense of purpose; high performance and productivity focus, resolving conflicts quickly, positively and skilfully.  When you're operating in a team like that it feels good.  When you're not, you know it.  The teams moves from a 'high trust, we and partner' approach to 'low trust, I and self-protect'.  Shifting a team to a high trust vibe involves Team ReSet.
 
What do I mean by ‘re-set’?   Well you know when your device freezes, gets stuck, doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do.  You hit re-set.  All being well you get a clean, bug free, program re-install.  The device does what it’s supposed to do.  Cue sigh of relief as you get back to business.  It’s the same for teams.  I do a lot of work in this area.  Working with teams who are not playing nicely together and need a bit of course correction to get them back on track.  
 
It's not just about teams in trouble though.  High performing teams take a ReSet approach to ensuring they stay, well high performing!  You can read more about our approach here

HR Foundations
 

I'm presenting the next series of HR Foundations course in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington.  HR Foundations is a three day programme designed for HR Practitioners who may be early on in their careers after studying and acquiring qualifications, or for those who are currently in HR roles and who want to extend their knowledge of leading edge HR practice. You have probably heard of ‘Accounting for non Accountants’ – well, this is HR for non HR people. This programme is designed for line managers or those for whom HR is only one significant part of their role.
