Description: Central York Fire Services (CYFS) responded to a call for a reported fire at 26 Ashton Road. Upon arrival, fire crews noticed heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage of a two-story single-family dwelling.
All occupants of the home were self-evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire crews. York Region Paramedic Services examined and cleared all occupants of the home.
Dollar loss: approximately $250,000
Cause of incident: CYFS’s internal Fire Prevention Division with the assistance from the Electrical Safety Authority has completed their investigation and the cause of the fire is undetermined.
Casualties / Injuries: There were no reported injuries.
Community Impact: N/A
Current Status: CYFS fire crews have fully extinguished the fire and cleared the scene. The home has been turned back over to the property owner.
Resources Used: CYFS committed 6 fire trucks, 6 crews and 1 rehabilitation unit to the scene. CYFS established callback with CYFS staff and mutual aid with Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services and East Gwillimbury Fire Services in the event of additional incidents. York Regional Police and York Region Paramedic Services were also on-scene.
