Newmarket invites residents to participate in 2020 budget process
NEWMARKET, Ontario, October 1, 2019 – As part of the Town of Newmarket’s 2020 Budget process, one of the ways residents are invited to share their feedback is by participating in the Town’s 2020 Budget Game – How do you want to see your tax dollars invested?. Play for your chance to win a $100 credit that can be used towards a Recreation and Culture program.
“Resident engagement and participation are crucial when building our budgets for each given year,” says Mayor John Taylor. “It is Council’s goal, and strategic priority to ensure that we are able to continue to provide long-term financial sustainability, while continuing to balance and deliver great services and low tax rates. Your feedback will help us determine your priorities, so we can ensure we are investing your tax dollars in the municipal services that matter to you.”
The 2020 Budget will focus on supporting the six priorities identified in Council’s Strategic Priorities (2018-2022) and community feedback through the 2018 Community Survey.
Budget Game participants are asked to rank each municipal service provided by the Town of Newmarket, in order of importance, by assigning a number from 1 to 8 for each municipal service. Services with the highest rankings will assist Council in formulating the 2020 Budget. This feedback will help inform Council on community priorities
