Councillor Donal Lyons, Chair of the City Growth and Regeneration Committee, congratulated staff and traders at Belfast’s St George’s Market after it was named as ‘Best Large Indoor Market’ in the Great British Market Awards.

During a visit to the May Street market he said: “It is great to see this recognition for St. George’s Market where the traders and staff work hard to ensure visitors get more than just a shopping experience.

It is a very relaxed atmosphere, with music and eateries, people can have a cup of tea, taste the wares, and pick up local craft and unique items,” said Councillor Lyons.

Staff and traders celebrated the award with (l-r)Market Managers, Gary Montgomery and Martin McCrea, Cathy McLavaty (trader) Councillor Lyons, Paddy Lynn (chair of the traders association) and manager Kate Martin.
