Only a few days ago it was easy to see almost every building in camp from the main Lodge. The leaves are now almost in full bloom and it’s impossible to see the Drama Building from the Bridge. It simply means that the start of camp is getting closer and that the staff and I are super excited to get this ship sailing!

Camp Otterdale was at Perth's Festival of the Maples on April 25. Captain and Simba greeted thousands of visitors at this very popular event, including Camper Arden.

Otterdale Referral Program

When I ask the question to families, "How did you hear about Camp Otterdale" the most frequent answer is…"From a friend". Word of mouth has always been the most effective way that the Otterdale community has been introduced to new families. In order to thank those families that help spread the word about camp, the Otterdale Referrals Program is our way to say thank you and also a way for you to share in the gift of a camp experience with a friend.

This is how it works:
When a referral results in a new camper attending camp, both families will receive a $150.00 rebate/camper. Rebates will be credited at the end of the summer after camp or you can contribute your rebate to our “Send a Kid to Camp” program. If you are interested in referring, complete the following form, we will contact the family and follow-up.

Open House

Just a reminder that our Annual Open House is this coming weekend on Sunday 17 May from 1:00-5:00 pm. It’s a great chance to meet many camp staff, tour the site and try a few camp activities. Archery anyone?
The Open House is for new and returning camper families. We also welcome your friends/family who are considering a camp session this summer or next. The grill will be hot in the Lodge and ready to cook you some pancakes topped with Camp Otterdale maple syrup along your tour.
There is no need to register for the event but please email if you are planning to take part.

The First Week of Work Crew

The Work Crew/Leadership Team has had a great first week progressing with the "never ending Otterdale job list". A lot of their hard physical work has been those invisible tasks such as raking, cleaning and repairing. This week we will be focusing on getting camp activities ready, cabins cleaned and preparing for the Open House. Great work Scotia, Subi, Simba, Clifford, Baloo, Canyon and of course… Pops! The team gets bolstered soon with the addition of Fibb, Hawthorne, Spinelli, Berkley and Bubba. What a team.

Pathfinders Program

For those families looking for a challenging 4 week leadership program for their son or daughter, the Pathfinder program may be a good fit. There is a July and August program for 15 and 16 year old campers. The 3 night 4 day canoe trip is bound to be a highlight.

Find out more about the Pathfinders Program.

Staff 2015

The team of staff looks amazing with many returning faces and of course an eager group of new Junior Counsellors who have all been past campers. The majority of the staff will be at camp next weekend for our Skills Weekend of training, team building and to host the Open House.

Camp Office

If you have any questions as we get closer to the start of your session, feel free to call or email and we will do all we can to help. One of the trickiest tasks for us is to group campers with the cabin mates they want to be with. If you did not add a request during the registration process, please send along the request and we will add it to your camper(s) registration.

What’s Next?

During the countdown to the start of camp over the next few weeks, we will be sending you tips and reminders about getting ready for camp, and lots of great pictures through Facebook...follow us!

Hope to see you next weekend.
