This year, we will be doing a Lenten sermon series entitled Just Mercy (inspired by the book by Bryan Stevenson of the same name). Copies of the book are available at church. The cost is just $8, but if you can't afford that, please take one anyway.
Every year during lent we encourage people to engage two fasts. The first is a fast to free up time (e.g., giving up Netflix or social media). The goal is to repurpose that time toward a spiritual practice or discipline (e.g., reading, prayer, meditation, silence, etc). The second fast is meant to free up resources (e.g., specialty coffees, lunches out, movies, etc). The goal is to set that money aside to give toward our Easter Offering.
This year's Easter offering will help fund our many upcoming local missional activities (i.e., summer meals program for at-risk ADHS families, block party, special needs prom, Camp Athens and much more). Please join us on this journey together!
Contemplative Prayer Group Starts Sunday
Every Sunday during Lent, Alex Kiener will be leading a pre-worship Contemplative Prayer Group from 10 - 10:30am. Alex lead our fall men's retreat back in 2018 and did an AMAZING job!! It was soulful, contemplative, restorative and deeply spiritually enriching. If you are interested in this group, contact Alex.
Beyond the Lenten season, the hope is for this group to continue meeting on a weekly or biweekly basis as a regular small group.
