|Client Alert #32 Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite Update & Derek
Please read this entire alert!
On October 14, Apple released the latest version of their new operating system for Macintosh computers. Dubbed “Yosemite”, OS X 10.10 is touted as having dozens of new, exciting features. As before, Apple is offering the operating system for free through the online App Store.
Upgrading to OS X Mavericks is a straightforward process and Apple has made it relatively simple to do. However there is still potential for problems to arise during the upgrade process, or for issues to surface with some of the non-Apple applications you may rely on. Specifically, we’ve seen issues:
- When migrating from OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) to Yosemite
- Serious problems with some third party solid state drive (SSD) devices.
Because of these potential pitfalls and because it’s always much more difficult to resolve these problems after an upgrade has already occurred, we prefer to be involved with the transition to any major operating system upgrade.
Our best practices method verifies the integrity of your system while giving it a tune up, confirms the status of backups, and ensures that all your third party applications are up to date and compatible with the new environment. Additionally, we’ll bring a copy of the latest version of the Yosemite installer to use, shortening the time of the install, and allowing you to start enjoying the benefits of Yosemite sooner.
So give us a call to discuss your plans for moving to Yosemite.
