Personal Essay

Deadline: April 30, 2016
Rona Altrows and Julie Sedivy, editors, are embarking on a new project—Waiting: An Anthology. We welcome submissions of essays on this universal experience that is open to a multitude of intensely personal interpretations.
For example, we wait for test results, the big day, outcome, graduation, funeral, cremation, the planned trip, visa, the unplanned journey, flight, election, birth, admission of guilt, admission to the show, judgment, verdict, decision, permission, clearance, reconciliation, first day of school, surgery, the examination, the answer. What is actually happening in these evanescent moments or interminable stretches of time when nothing appears to be happening? It is also our intention to celebrate the beauty and versatility of the personal essay as an art form.
