It doesn't have to be far or expensive. Traveling, even near our own homes, can provide different perspectives on life and people outside our comfort zones.
As Mark Twain shared:
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime"
One of the reasons Conrad N. Hilton expanded his hotel company overseas is that he felt strongly that world peace could be achieved via International Trade and Travel.
And my favorite expression about the value of travel is attributed to St. Augustine of Hippo:
The world is like a book, if we are not traveling we are only reading one page.
“Be peaceful… be a lifelong learner…and lead a meaningful life by assisting others…”
