Correction & Last Chance Reminder re MLTC Seminar March 9th, 2017

The NY Chapter of the Aging Life Care Association (formerly the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers), is hosting a  live legal education program on Managed Long Term Care in NYS.

Contrary to our last email, the seminar will only be available on March 9th for those attending in-person.  Remote viewing will not be available on March 9th.   Later viewing of  the taped webinar will be available, but not for CLE credit for attorneys - only for CEU credit for social workers.   CLE credit is only available for those attending the live in-person program on March 9th.   We apologize for any confusion.

FIDA Program Due to Expand to Suffolk and Westchester

The Fully Integrated Dual Advantage "FIDA" program will be expanding to two new counties - Westchester and Suffolk Counties - in March or April 2017.  Currently, FIDA is only in New York City and Nassau Counties.   See Leading Age NY report on DOH meeting in January 2017.  As reported by Leading Age NY,  enrollment will be voluntary only, with no "passive" or mandatory enrollment.  No one will have to "opt out" of FIDA. There is reportedly one FIDA plan in place, with other plans phased-in contingent on final network review.

FIDA combines an MLTC plan with a Medicare Advantage plan, providing all Medicare and Medicaid services all in one managed care plan.  FIDA is only available to people who have Medicare and Medicaid and who are eligible for MLTC services.  See more information on the ICAN website, NYHealthAccess.org, or the NYS Dept. of Health Consumer Webpage on FIDA.
