The SMDK Lineage

As a martial artist, your lineage is very important in helping you understand where you fit into the often complex structure of martial arts organisations. On a day-to-day basis, you train with your instructor and the other students in your dojang. But what about all the other Soo Bahk Do practitioners and instructors who have come before you? Who is your instructor's instructor? And who was their instructor? How is your instructor linked back to Kwan Jang Nim (grand master) HC Hwang and the Founder Hwang Kee? These are all important questions you not only need to know, but should want to know as you progress in the art.

The classes are all filling up quickly, and it is likely we have now reached capacity. To help keep the senior students on track, we have started a monthly Seniors Training class, scheduled for the first Saturday of each month from 9am to 11am for Adult and Youth Green Belts and above. We will also look to add in extra weekend classes during the school breaks, so keep and eye on the Term Dates (below) for those details.

Good luck to everyone taking part in the upcoming Shim Sa.

Extra training opportunities
Region 3 Camp
13th to 15th May

The Region 3 Training Camp at Long Beach in Batemans Bay is being held from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th May.

This is a great opportunity to meet and train with other members of Region 3 (NSW & ACT). A FaceBook event page has been set up and all details and updates will be posted there.
Training Seminar
23rd to 25th September

All students are invited to attend a training seminar in Melbourne from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th September, with special guest Kwan Jang Nim (Grand Master) HC Hwang. This is a rare opportunity and I encourage everyone to consider attending. More information will be provided later in the year, or follow the updates on their FaceBook page.
