Reinvest In March
It's time to re-up your membership with a purchase of $20 in shares at the register. Why reinvest? Because you own this food co-operative, and your annual investment in shares keeps your ownership in good standing and our business in good financial health. That contributes to the likelihood of a Patronage Refund and profit-sharing next year, allows you to vote in the upcoming Co-op election, ensures that you receive valuable coupons in the mail when we offer something extra (like we did with this year's annual Share Assessment mailer that went to all Owners), and of course entitles you to 10% off all cooking classes, 20% off our Owner Extras, and more. As if that weren't enough, we also offer a 5% Community Discount to eligible Owners in need. Please share that with anyone you know who may be experiencing financial hardship. Join Us In The Teaching Kitchen
You're invited to an Open House in our Teaching Kitchen, hosted by our Board of Directors. We're looking to fill six seats on the next Board, and the deadline to declare your candidacy is coming up fast. This is a great way to talk through your future as Director, and learn about what it might be like to become such an integral part of our community. 6:30pm Monday March 20, free in our Teaching Kitchen.

Stone fruit and gorgeous baked goods are on the horizon. Join us in the Teaching Kitchen to study and perfect the art of home pastry, pressure cooking, Mexican moles & salsas (on Cinco de Mayo), and more, plus a cornucopia of global cuisines and fun options for your littlest chef-in-training. In June, we'll offer our second Kids Master Series, focusing on world-expanding treats from Argentina, the Middle East, India and elsewhere. Our Spring calendar is filling up fast with free, fun events. Join us in the Teaching Kitchen from 1—3pm on Saturday, April 1, to explore spring wellness from the garden to the kitchen. Learn your way around nettle, bee pollen, honey, and other simple natural wonders, for free! Our "Spring Into Wellness" panel will focus on the top 10 herbs to grow in your garden and how to incorporate them into seasonal allergy relief. Other upcoming dates of note:

Fresh Juice Has Come To Davis!
The plea for in-house juices ranks right up there with our Top 5 Most-Repeated-Of-All-Time Suggestion Box entries. Well, we're proud to announce that we've arrived (finally!) at a refreshing, thirst-quenching, ultra-hydrating solution that involves a Co-op Green Juice, a mind-blowing Blueberry Lemonade, and of course, our stellar fresh-squeezed orange juice. Stop by our organic salad bar to see for yourself, and tell us your favorite! Keith is the Co-op barista behind our magical Cold Brew, Golden Milk tumeric elixir, and our signature, fresh-ginger Chai, all available to grab 'n go in reusable Mason jars. Take The Leap. Run For The Board!
Did you know we'll be offering an online voting component to our Spring Election, for the first time in our 45-year history? That turn of events is due to the tireless awesomeness of our Board of Directors. They are the quiet heroes who make sure our Co-op reflects our Davis community, our values and our investment in a sustainable future. Have you considered running for the Board of Directors? Serving as a Director is a satisfying way to help sculpt the future of our food co-op. There will be six open seats on the Board this spring. Are You A Co-operator?
Earlier this year, we hired Bryan Hankins (smiling above) as our Kitchen Manager. An accomplished chef with over 15 years of experience, his influence on our Deli team has been absolutely scrumptious! And you've probably noticed our Deli staff fairly skipping from hot bar to organic salad bar, happily building paninis and barbecue, creating new recipes, and piling up that golden beet & kale salad. Do you know someone who'd like to work for our company? Bryan has now taken on the position of Prepared Foods Manager & Chef for our Co-op, and we have a few open positions on his team and elsewhere in the store. The Co-op offers excellent benefits, and is a fun & friendly place to work. We have a diverse management team, and 63% of our managerial positions are occupied by women, including Prasanna Regmi, our General Manager. Applications for hire are welcome online!
