IN 2019, DAVIDE SORRENTI'S ARGUESKE 1994-1997 SOLD OUT. REPRINTED, IT SOLD OUT AGAIN. NOW THERE IS A NEW BOOK. POLAROIDS. THERE ALWAYS WAS WAY MORE CREATIVITY IN DAVIDE'S TEENAGE YEARS THAN COULD BE CAPTURED IN ONE BOOK. WE ARE BACK WITH THESE INSTANTLY UNFORGETTABLE IMAGES. THIS IS IT. THE LAST BOOK BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
It looks so good! Davide's hooded self-portrait inset into the Eskaboard covers. You could buy it for the black tape binding alone!
Where to start? There are 125 Polaroids in the book. Start with Jaime King. Because this image is amaze. Because you can see from the fold line to the print that this image has lived its own life. Davide's mother Francesca spent much of her New York lockdown looking for these pictures. Scanning them. Tagging them. Curating them into this book.
New York in the nineties. This is a book about youth. We can look back on it now - almost 25 years later. Davide only had that time then and he had to live it fast. That's why Polaroid was so perfect. Take the picture in the moment. See the picture in the moment.
Harold Hunter. Another nineties New Yorker no longer with us. There are accidents and experiments within the Polaroids. Happy accidents and successful experiments.
Jade M. With the red paint pen. i-D have just written about the book. You can read that here.
One more of Jaime. Because. Like. Wow.
Chris, Union Square. Cut up and keep.
Jason. Let's end with the first image in the book. Everything about Davide, his family, friends and the city they lived in, is in that smile.
Please note - if you want the book in time for Christmas - you can buy it in store. In person. In real life. Dover Street Market London, Dover Street Market New York and Dover Street Market Los Angeles all have copies from Saturday morning (if not now). The last book on the last weekend before Christmas. At £45 / $60 it is the best present ever. Go shop.
You can also buy here online and choose 'collect in store' and come and collect from IDEA at 101 Wardour Street. We would love to see your masked faces and hand you a book.
And for those of you a million miles from London, NY or LA, yes, yes, yes buy on the button below. Seeing as we completely sold out of Ibiza '89, Prada 96-98 and Nadia Lee Cohen Women in the last four weeks... you would be mad not to.
Wow. Sold out online. BUT we know for a fact (well probably anyway) that there are copies with other stores now. Including DSM LA and New York. But also in Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, Madrid and more. It can be found. And we can help. Hit the button and tell us where you are in the world.
Can't really get more sold out than this. There were five copies in DSMNY earlier this week. Safe to assume they are gone. The list for a possible / probable second edition already holds more people than bought the first edition. So we will print more. And you really do need to be on that list.
STARTING TO WONDER HOW YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR ALL OF THESE BOOKS?! HAVE SOMEONE GIFT YOU A GIFTCARD. COMES IN DIGITAL VERSION AND / OR REAL PLASTIC FERGADELIC CARD FLECKED WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE COCAINE (BUT ISN'T, OBVS).
IDEA Christmas decoration GIF not included - just getting in practice :)
