Rotary Days Jill and I attended Chipping Sodbury RC for the Sodbury Sportive where 900 plus cyclists had a choice of a 100, 60 or 30-mile cycle ride. At the finish cyclists were greeted with cowbells rung by the Rotarians’ families. We then went onto the Tewkesbury RC for their Classic Vehicle Festival.  Around 5000 people attended and there were over 500 Classic cars and motorcycles as well as auto jumble, stalls selling all kinds of car related items.

These events are major fund raising events for each club and they both used the event to promote Rotary and involved lots of volunteers. Has your club thought about getting the volunteers to form a Rotary Community Corps to support the events that you put on?  They really can make a difference and the members are all potential Rotarians! What is your Rotary Day going to be this year?
Conference is on March 27-29,2015 Planning for the District Conference is well underway and registration will commence in the middle of September. Clubs are being asked to have a Conference Coordinator who will be responsible for the coordination of club registrations.
September is Youth Services month  Clubs have told us that they are going to be running the following competitions: Young Chef 28, Young Musician 27, Young Photographer 24, Young Writer 21 and Youth Speaks 16. When you invest in young people, you invest in Rotary’s future. I look forward to seeing these competitions as they progress to the district finals and then onto the regional and national finals.
District Membership workshop on Saturday 20 September There are still some spaces left to attend this event. The workshop is a must attend if you are looking to grow and retain membership in your club and area. To book a place contact the District Membership chair.  Details of the Workshop can be found on the District website.
Martyn at Tewkesbury Classic car rally.
Following DG Martyn's call for a sports officer we are pleased to report that Ian DeParis of Evesham Club has stepped forward to do the job. Thanks Ian since it means there will be a District Skittle Tournament this Rotary Year.
New Members advised since the last Newsletter are:

We welcome each of them into the family of Rotary and wish them great fun and fellowship.
The BMW Mini in the picture is sponsored by Cotswold BMW with Hereford City Club. A fantastic way of getting Rotary noticed.
