President's Message
Leadership and Advocacy. They go together like ham and eggs, Penn and Teller, Page and Plant. So how appropriate that the most recent Ohio ACEP event was our two-day Emergency Medicine Leadership Forum, the perfect intersection of Leadership and Advocacy.
The event began with an exclusive screening of the fantastic EMRA documentary delving into the history of Emergency Medicine. The appropriately-titled “24|7|365†was very well-received by the many people in attendance. The highlight for many of us was the presence of two of the “stars†of the documentary, Dr. Bruce Janiak (the 1st Emergency Medicine resident in the country) and Dr. Pam Bensen (the first woman elected to the Board of Directors of ACEP). Leadership Development Academy Member Spotlight - Dr. Julian Jakubowski
Dr. Jakubowski was born and raised in New York City. During his senior year at the acclaimed Bronx High School of Science, Dr. Jakubowski got involved with EMS. Becoming an emergency medical technician before the age of 18, he became hooked on emergency medicine and worked as an EMT in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. [Read more]

Emergency Medicine Leadership Forum
On March 4 & 5, in Columbus, Ohio ACEP held its Emergency Medicine Leadership Forum. Nearly 100 attending physicians, EM residents and Ohio legislators gathered for this celebration of emergency medicine’s Past, Present and Future.

The Forum started on the evening of March 4 with a Red Carpet Legacy Reception and exclusive screening of EMRA’s remarkable documentary, 24|7|365: The Evolution of Emergency Medicine. [Read more]

Columbus, OH—On Tuesday, March 11, Ohio ACEP member Dr. Joan Papp was on hand as Gov. John Kasich signed into law House Bill 170, which expands the list of licensed health professionals, emergency responders or peace officers who may prescribe or administer the drug naloxone. [Read more]

Ohio ACEP EM Board Review Course in Orlando
On February 6-10, Ohio ACEP held its nationally-known Emergency Medicine Board Review Course at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Florida! This was the first time the course was held outside of Ohio, and we’re happy to report that it was a great success!

Emergency physicians attended from 26 states and five different countries; one attendee came from as far away as Sweden!
