Town council presents allotment awards
Green-fingered allotment holders in Ongar have received awards from Ongar Town Council.

Winner and highly commended certificates were presented for the Castle Street allotments by town council chairman Jim Browning at Thursday's council meeting.

The winner's certificate was presented to Linda Hague, who received the award on behalf of her husband, Alec.

The highly commended certificate was presented to Robert Bowyer.

Neither of the award recipients for the Moreton Road plots - winner Ian Polley and Don Hedges (highly commended) - were able to attend the meeting.

This was the second year that the allotment awards have been presented.

The plots were judged by Jeff Mills, a knowledgeable and experienced vegetable gardener.

Mr Browning congratulated the recipients and wished them continued enjoyment and success with their plots.

Thanks go to Wyevale Garden Centre, Ongar, for sponsoring the event and providing the prizes for the winners.
