Why we give?

HONORING OUR BC LAW DEGREE WITH GRATITUDE

Dear Classmates,

As we get closer to our 45th BC Law anniversary celebration on November 3 and 4, we encourage everyone in our Class of 1972 to take part by attending our reunion and participating in our Reunion Class gift.

BC Law depends on our gifts to the Law School Fund to provide crucial funding for student scholarships, summer public interest stipends, faculty research, and much more. We hope all of you will consider making a reunion gift so that current and future BC Law students will have the same opportunity we had to receive a top-notch education where ideals of community, cooperation, and collaboration excel.

Your Class Committee:
Alicia Brophey, Dan Callahan, Joel Lewin, Dan Meehan, and Jim Sturdevant

SPOTLIGHT

Judge Francis Larkin

Enjoy these reflections of then Assistant Dean Francis Larkin about his time at BC Law and how grateful he feels to have been part of the BC Law community.

Why I give to BC Law?

"I learned a variety of skills at BC Law which have immeasurably aided me throughout my legal career. Moot court, representing the indigent, and working with experienced lawyers during law school significantly boosted my performance and inspired me to choose public interest law as a career.”

~ Jim Sturdevant '72

Become a leadership level donor today

Please consider our milestone as an opportunity to join the Dean's Council with a leadership level gift beginning at $2,500. All Dean's Council members are invited to an intimate reception with Dean Rougeau prior to our Saturday night dinner.
A gift that lasts BEYOND a lifetime

We want to let you know about a meaningful way to mark our milestone and make a lasting difference at BC Law.

There are so many ways to make a legacy commitment, and no gift is too small. You can:
  • Remember BC Law when you create or update your will or trust.
  • Name BC Law as the sole or a partial beneficiary of a retirement plan, donor-advised fund, or life-insurance policy.
  • Establish a charitable gift annuity or other gift that provides lifetime income.
These gifts create personal legacies that touch every facet of BC Law, from excellence in teaching and research to financial aid. They also enable many to make the gift to BC Law that they have always wanted without impacting current assets.

To speak with someone about making a legacy commitment as your Reunion Class Gift, contact the BC Office of Gift Planning at 877-304-SHAW. Or, let BC know if you have already included it in your will or other estate plans. You’ll receive reunion giving credit and be recognized as a member of the Shaw Society, which celebrates legacy donors.
