We have been following this story in South Sudan for the last year and a half. We followed him during happy and hopeful moments on Independence Day and when he worked hard to build a life for himself in this young nation. All his hopes and dreams collapsed when in mid December 2013 a new civil war broke out. He was forced to flee the war together with his family. Finding himself back in a refugee camp for the second time in his life, all the traumas and wounds of his past resurfaced. The horrors of his youth, that he had tried to forget, are now haunting him again in his sleep at night.
We travelled to North Uganda, close to the South Sudanese border, where he and his family have gone to seek refuge.
