Let the new academic year begin!
The end of summer is near, and the new College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts is excited for the upcoming 2016-2017 academic year. The integration of the College of Architecture + The Arts with School of Journalism and Mass Communication has created an alumni network of more than 14,000 graduates to grow and reconnect. If you haven’t had the chance yet, check out our newly renovated CARTA website. Also, we are especially thrilled to announce some of our signature events:
  • The 30th Annual Festival of the Trees: The Festival is a fundraising event coordinated by the FIU Interior Architecture Department and its advisory board. The event and auction has raised over $150,000 in funds that benefit the Department and its students thanks to South Florida’s architecture and design community. This year’s Festival will take place on November 17 in Miami’s Design District. For more information, click here.
  • Homecoming Football Game: Homecoming is when alumni and community celebrate with a week of rallies, concerts, parades and other exciting events that show off our traditions, accomplishments and student-athletes. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for this year’s Homecoming Game, which takes place at 7 p.m. against Louisiana Tech at FIU Stadium. More information to come.
The world awaits the start of the Rio 2016 Olympics, and the FIU Department of Art + Art History will play an important part of its celebration. Students and alumni have created a unique work of art that will be showcased at the Miami International Airport. The project, vivid in color, represents the excitement of the Olympics and Brazil. If you are traveling during the Games, please visit the installation, which will open August 4 at the North Terminal Gate D.
