Staff Changes at Radio Eye

We have a new Assistant Studio Manager!

Photo of Hannah Weigle

Hannah Weigle  joined us in July. We hope that she is very much at home in her new position as Assistant Studio Manager.
We asked her to tell us a little about herself and I have included her response here entirely. I think we are really lucky to get her!
Hannah says:

Thank you for your warm welcome! I am very excited to be a part of the Radio Eye team! I grew up in Jessamine County and moved to Lexington in 2009 to attend Transylvania University. There I was a violinist in the Transylvania Chamber Orchestra, student manager for the William T. Young Campus Center, and a member of many other student groups. I graduated in 2013 with a B.A. in Anthropology.

I love meeting new people and hearing their life stories, I believe this passion is what drew me to that course of study. Along with my anthropology classes, I took several sociology courses. In fact one of my favorite classes was  Sociology of Health, Community, and Illness. This class was small and very intimate, together under the instruction of Dr. Ashley Rondini, we explored how social structures influence a community’s and individual’s health. Through this course I got to explore the nonprofit world in Lexington by volunteering with AVOL (AIDS Volunteers of Lexington). My heart is most happy when helping others. It brings me great joy to be able to do that now with Radio Eye!

Some other fun facts: I also work for Starbucks and am studying to become a coffee master. Some of my favorite hobbies include reading, gardening, and archaeology.

We also have a new Studio Manager!

Lucy Stone is the new Studio Manager

Lucy Stone has stepped up into the position of Station Manager, a role we know she will thrive in. As a volunteer, I have really enjoyed Lucy’s sparking emails in the mornings and she wrote a lovely piece for the newsletter about our expansion. If you see her, give her a nod of congratulations. Lucy is most excited about this promotion because she can remain hands on with the listeners and volunteers, all while having more responsibility around the office.

She will continue to travel around the state to various conferences and events to get our name and service out to potential listeners!First thing on her agenda as Studio Manager? Making her office more "Lucy-fied" and that includes a giant flower given to her by a volunteer. "I like to be surrounded by pretty and fun things so that if I'm ever in a bad mood I can just look up and see a reason to smile!"

Where in the world is Chelsey VanDyke??

Chelsey, who was with Radio Eye for two years, recently took a job as Program Director at the Bluegrass Council for the Blind! She will be sorely missed but we know we won't forget her face because she still plans on coming around and volunteering!

Radio Eye and the Bluegrass Council for the Blind, also known as the BCB, work closely with one another and we wish Chelsey all the best in her new position! On top of starting a new job, Chelsey and her fiance just bough a house together in Lexington and they are planning on getting married in September!
