Spooktacular! MTC Halloween Party and Haunted House
The greatest of parties will be 5-8PM on Halloween. Parade of Costumes (with contest) at 6:00, and the Haunted House going from 6:30-8 at MTC. This will be a pot luck (so we can feed our selves) and the cost of admission will be 5 canned food items (so we can feed the rest of our community, too). Keep in mind that most everyone’s sweet tooth will be soothed by the pounds of sugar that will be gathered from other sources. Tasty main and side dishes will be very much appreciated.

This year we are foregoing the Montana Open and without having to plan a giant tournament in the same month we have a lot more pep to put toward this par-tay, but we cannot do it alone. Making this the greatest Halloween  MTC has ever pulled together will be a joint effort. All manner of skills are needed.

Volunteers can sign up on the front counter. Sheets will be out for the pot luck, haunted house set up, haunted house actors and behind the scenes workers, adults to be kids games leaders, an DJ/Parade of Costumes announcer, and clean up crew.

We strongly encourage everyone to dress up and ask that parents plan to attend the party along with their children. There is one forbidden costume though, students may not don their uniform and come as a martial artist. We like to tie those with this less than original idea to the tree out front using their belt.

Test Coming Up: October 23

One of the things we love most about Taekwondo is that it comes with a built in set of achievable goals arranged along a logical path of progression. Colored Belt tests are held at MTC about ever 6 weeks. The testing timeline we have found that leads to the greatest overall benefit to each student is testing every 3 months. If a student is consistent in 2 day per week class attendance and keeps up on their Poomsae practice on their own the three month timeline keeps them marching on without getting overwhelmed.

That said, we encourage our students to be robust well-rounded humans who fully engage in life and are being sensitive to what they need physically, mentally and emotionally. At times that may mean slowing down the pace of testing to accommodate their individual lives as they are happening. We welcome students to test at the pace that works best for them.

Our next test will be October 23rd. The planned testing times (by belt testing FOR) are: Yellow-4:30-5:15, Sr. Yellow-Sr. Green-5:15-6:30, Blue– Sr. Red-6:30-8:15. Advanced sign up/payment must be made by October 20th. New:Late sign ups will be charged a $25 late fee. (it is really, really, really important to sign up in advance.) Use OnMat from your computer at home to make your payment or visit KP at the front desk during classes Monday– Thursday. Testing times may be changed depending on sign ups so please follow the directions about how to receive text message updated in the Upcoming Events and Happenings section of the newsletter.
Meet Glenna Cawley, MTC’s Account Manager
Glenna, along with her entire family, has been part of the MTC family since 2012. She is making her way through the colored belt ranks and has been an employee for over a year. In September she began her new roll as Account Manager. Glenna brings a multitude of tools to this position from her previous experience and we are incredibly excited to make this transition with her here. Students and account holders can contact Glenna through email at or by calling the dojang at 829-1328. She is also available by appointment Monday thru Thursday 1-5PM.
Having a hard time keeping your Poomsae straight in your brain when you are trying to practice at home?
What would be the most helpful way for you to confidently practice on your own?
Having Master and Mrs. R there with you?
They can’t be in your living room to help you practice can they?
Actually one of the TKD dads, Tony Gammell, helped us produce these DVS so that we could help our students do just that: practice confidently at home.
In October any student who had perfect attendance (and sign in) in September will get 20% off this DVD at MTC. Regular Price $30.
