Get Creative and Have Fun

Kia Ora <<First Name>>,

Life can feel so serious - it's easy to forget how to be creative and have fun!

Getting creative brings laughter and balance to busy and stressful lifestyles.  We can use our creative talents to express the joy of the child or the wisdom of the sage within and to inspire, benefit and uplift ourselves and others.

This is a very special time of year as the sun moves into the zodiacal sign of Leo. The ancient people understood that at this powerful time, the star Sirius rises and a new cycle begins.  It was recognised as a very fertile, creative time and that creativity can be the bridge that connects us to new ideas and imaginings - the place where the seeds of dreams are sown.

This month we urge you to get in touch with your inner playfulness and creativity - stand out, shine and join in!

With much aroha,

J.K. Rowling: Your First Light® Power Flower is...

No 13 Kanuka - Spontaneity

Joanne Rowling, born July 31, 1965 is the well known British author of the Harry Potter series.  She is famously quoted as saying:
“Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”
The idea for her books came during a delayed train journey to London King's Cross station in 1990. Soon after she began writing, her mother died, her first child was born and a difficult marriage ended in divorce.  She lived on the breadline, struggling in relative poverty until she finished the first Harry Potter novel. Faced with incredible challenges she stayed true to her creative calling and completed the best-selling book series in history. In 2000, Rowling established the Volant Charitable Trust which works to alleviate poverty and social inequality and in 2001 she was  awarded an OBE.

Did You Know: The New Year - The Rising of Takurua

Takurua, the Maori name for the brightest star in the night sky - Sirius first becomes visible above the eastern horizon in the month of July. This marks the beginning of the lunar calendar year for many of the old traditions and cultures who observed and revered its movement across the sky. Over 20 times brighter than our Sun and normally depicted as blue in colour, it is sometimes referred to as a 'rainbow star' because of the way it rapidly changes colours and twinkles in the night sky. 'The spiritual sun', 'the star of initiation' or 'the sun behind the sun' are some of the other names given to Sirius. Sirius plays an important role in the mysteries and mythology of ancient Egypt. The mysterious Great Sphinx in Egypt alludes to the leonine energies associated with Sirius and esoterically, the energies of Sirius are linked with Regulus, the main star in the constellation Leo, known also as 'the heart of the Lion.'
