Forward to Friend
Ahlan, Welcome to February's newsletter; hope you like snakes! February brings Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day and we hope that you have a great time celebrating these fun events!  This is the Chinese Year of the Water Snake and it is said that all things will be possible! It sounds an exciting year ahead and to start, we hope you enjoy this month's newsletter. Love and shimmies, Zara and Sandra xx

So with snakes in mind, please let me introduce you to Snakey Sue, belly dancer, snake dancer and educator who also runs a snake sanctuary.  To raise money for their keep Sue takes her snakes to events, arranges visits, handling sessions  and more!

I first met Sue when I went to handle snakes at her home.  It was a wonderful experience and not at all as I had imagined -  snakes are amazing!

Rescuing more and more snakes Sue moved to Harwich and opened her serpent sanctuary. If you want to know anything at all about snakes, please
go to her website and ask Sue!  She is knowledgeable and kind. If you live near Harwich, maybe you could even arrange a visit to handle snakes like I did!  Have a go!!

Bellydancing and the Blues with Guy Shalom

 BBC Radio 4

If you love Baladi, if you love Egyptian dance,  listen to this great radio broadcast.  It's worth it!

Maybe you know Baladi as the music of the bellydancer - but in its true form it can be said to be the essence of Egypt.

Relax, sit back and click here to listen to Guy Schalom as he hunts out the spirit of the new Egypt in  Baladi.

Joining Guy are Raqia Hassan, Jane Wass, Sheikh Taha and more.  We learn about the history of the dance, Cairo street weddings etc.   -   enjoy!!

Season 2 Selection 4
Sunday 10th February 2013

The contestants for this selection are: Hayaam, Irene, Kaina, Liza, Miwako, Roxane and me, Zara.  In addition there will be exciting music and professional dance acts to amaze and delight!  Click here to find out more. If you can, please come along and support us all!
There is no excuse not to celebrate this month.  February 10th sees The Chinese New Year.  Then there is Valentine's Day on the 14th.  I am sure there are wonderful events all over the country.  In London there is a Valentine's Party with live Arabic entertainment at Mia Lounge.

One of the more unusual events taking place this month, on 17th February, is The Arab Quarter at Hoxton Hall.  In addition to music and dance there will be dramatic and eloquent narration taken from Palace Walk, part of The Cairo Trilogy, by the Egyptian Nobel prize winning writer, Naguib Mahfouz - an evening rich in atmosphere, intrigue and exoticism!

If you are in Oxford how about these Katie Holland workshops hosted by Hannah Newton on 23rd February at Kidlington Green Social Club?

To celebrate the Year of the Snake and Valentine's Day - and of course because we love our newsletter readers - we are giving you the chance to win this lovely arm band. All you have to do is post on our Facebook page that you read/ enjoyed this month's newsletter.

I will draw the winner on 20/02/2013
Just click here and make your post
Happy Valentines Day!!
Here are some lovely balloons to end this newsletter - hope they make you smile!
Please remember that if you are having an event and would like Zara's Mobile Zouk to come we would love to hear from you!
