Join us to Celebrate Independence Day

The NoMa BID is throwing an Independence Day party, and you're invited!  We'll be cooking up free burgers (enough for 200 people) and hot dogs — or you can bring your own family picnic. There will be a live bluegrass band, games, a moonbounce, and a crafts area for children to create July 4-themed items.

The event takes place at Storey Park (1005 First St. NE) from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, so you'll have plenty of time to secure a good seat for the fireworks. See you tomorrow!

Many thanks to the July 4th Bash food sponsor, Harris Teeter!

July 13: MBT Community Meeting

Join the NoMa BID, the District Department of Transportation, and Alta Planning + Design from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on July 13 at Wunder Garten to discuss wayfinding on the Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT). Effective, well-placed, and visible signage can help promote use of the MBT and improve the way it connects users to adjacent neighborhoods and institutions.

This community meeting will help the project team gain valuable insight into the opportunities, challenges, and needs for wayfinding on the MBT. Your input is needed to make sure we get a great product.

NoMa Summer Screen: July 5 & 12

NoMa Summer Screen continues this week at Storey Park (1005 First St. NE). The gates opens at 7:00 pm, and movies start at sunset, a little before 9:00 pm. If you're inclined to ride a bike to the event, please do! Two Wheel Valet will be on hand to park and watch over your ride.

Here are the movies for this week and next and the food trucks that will be on hand to satisfy your appetite.

Union Station Wins Preservation Award

If you visit Union Station regularly, then you're aware of all the hard work that went into restoring the building's Main Hall to its former glory. That effort was rewarded by the D.C. Office of Planning, which presented the Union Station Redevelopment Corporation (USRC) with the State Historic Preservation Officer’s Award at the 2017 DC Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation.

But the USRC isn't resting on its laurels. The organization has ambitious plans for this important District transportation asset, as the Washington Business Journal recently reported: expanding the concourse, improving entrances, new stairs and escalators, and much more.
