One Last Chance to go on a POW!WOW! Mural Tour with Creator Kelly Towles

POW! WOW!, an international  art movement that celebrates culture, music and art in cities around the world landed in NoMa May 20-30.

POW! WOW! brings talented local and international artists together in partnerships with community members that enrich, beautify and enliven neighborhoods. Almost 20 extraordinarily talented muralists from DC and around the world created original masterpieces as part of this year’s POW! WOW!

The festival ended on May 30 but join us in the Lobby Project on Thursday, June 2 for a happy hour and mural tour. Hang out with some of the POW!WOW! artists, and then tour the murals and help us celebrate eight new beautiful spots in NoMa. Click here to RSVP.

If you can't make it out to the happy hour but still want to see the art work, check out some pictures from the festival here. Also, check out these interviews with POW!WOW! creator Kelly Towles on WUSA9 and BBC

POW! WOW! is sponsored by the NoMa BID and neighborhood real estate developers KettlerMRP Realty and Skanska. For more information on POW! WOW!, click here.

Next Parks Community Conversation
Saturday, June 11

For the next NoMa Parks Community Conversation, we’re switching things up! Instead of a weeknight, we’ll be holding the conversation on Saturday, June 11th from 10am-12pm. And instead of a conference room, we’ll be outside! Join us at NoMa Junction @ Storey Park (1005 First Street NE) for the next big parks update. The second half of the meeting will be optional tours to the NoMa Green and the 3rd and L Park sites. Be sure to RSVP for the meeting!

DC's Streetcar May Go to Georgetown

The DC Streetcar opened its first line on H Street in late February. Transportation planners at DDOT are currently studying a second line that would connect to the first, running from Union Station (on H Street NE) to the Georgetown waterfront. Plans were released in May that include options with a dedicated lane for this new streetcar line. DDOT is planning that riders will be able to get from Union Station to Georgetown in under a half hour. Read more here.

NoMa by the Numbers

The District’s office market is moving east, where tenants benefit from modern buildings, lower rents, and amenity rich neighborhoods. Adding to the trend eastward, residential is also booming east of 7th Street NW. NoMa, Capitol Riverfront, Southwest, and Mount Vernon Triangle have all seen an upsurge in tenant move-ins and residential construction. Currently, 81% of all apartment construction activity (based on square footage) is occurring east of 7th Street NW.
