Don't Miss the Final Two Nights of Outdoor Movies in NoMa

NoMa Summer Screen is being extended this year so we can bring you two great blockbusters that were rained out earlier in the season. We hope you'll join us for one or both events. Don't forget: sunset happens earlier than you might realize.

  • TONIGHT: Mad Max: Fury Road / movie begins around 7:40 p.m.
  • SEPTEMBER 12: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story / movie begins around 7:30 p.m.

Throughout the month of September, Yoga NoMa will be leading a free yoga class at the start of the FRESHFARM NoMa Market, which opens on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. at the corner of First and Pierce streets NE. Start your day right with a bit of focus on your mind and body, then shop a terrific selection of vegetables, meats, prepared foods, and more. Namaste!

Red Bear Brewing Starts Construction

If you hear jackhammers and other construction sounds coming from behind the doors at 209 M St. NE (the retail space next to REI at Uline Arena), that's because Red Bear Brewing, the District's first fully gay-owned brewery, has begun building out its home. When it's complete, the space will include a brewery, kitchen, taproom, and event space. "We'll be able to pack in up to 300 thirsty craft-beer patrons, board-game enthusiasts, drag queens, NoMa locals, and happy-hour hunters," says co-founder Bryan Van Den Oever (above, center). Van Den Oever and co-founders Cameron Raspet (left) and Simon Bee (right) expect to open their doors by early February 2019.
