In the Heart of NoMa, a Farmers Market

On Sunday, May 20, the NoMa BID joins forces with FRESHFARM to kick off the inaugural season of the FRESHFARM NoMa Market, which will make its home on the lot at First and Pierce streets (1150 First St. NE) at the heart of the neighborhood. Join us for food, music, prizes, and more! The farmers market will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Sunday from May 20 until October 28 and will feature a dozen regional farmers and food producers.

Don't miss the special giveaways and prizes for market shoppers: the first 50 guests will receive a $5 token to spend at the market on May 20, and all shoppers are invited to enter a drawing for a $100 market token that's good all season long!

In addition to the fresh produce, meats and eggs, prepared foods and baked goods, flowers, and more that will be available for purchase, music will be provided by the local alternative rock soloist A Note Two Self.

FRESHFARM NoMa Market is sponsored by Advantage Financial Federal Credit Union.

Biking to Work Is Cool … and Damp?

Bike to Work Day is THIS FRIDAY. However, due to the high possibility of rain, we've moved NoMa's event location to the big tent at Wunder Garten (1105 First St. NE). Stop by to enjoy a live DJ, coffee from Qualia, apples from FRESHFARM, bananas from Harris Teeter, and so much more! The fun kicks off at 7:30 a.m. and wraps up at 9:30 a.m. Thanks to our friends at Wunder Garten for loaning us their space!

Evening Jazz in the (Beer) Garden

Speaking of Wunder Garten, NoMa's beloved beer garden has just launched a new weekly event: Live Bossa Nova featuring Elin (pictured above), a critically acclaimed jazz vocalist who has worked with, among many other notables, D.C.'s own Thievery Corporation. Sundays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Free admission.

That's a Wrap: POW! WOW! DC

And just like that, the 10 days of POW! WOW! DC — 20+ local and visiting artists bringing life to walls and other surfaces, people enjoying walking tours and great community events celebrating creativity — are over. Luckily, we have the incredible murals to remember it by! Scroll down to see a few of our favorite moments, and check out an extensive photo album here. (Above: Bristol, England, artist Richt at work.)
