October 25: Celebrate Autumn With Us at PumpkinPalooza!

The NoMa BID’s annual PumpkinPalooza is the perfect free autumn event. Join hundreds of people from the neighborhood and across the city to celebrate the season! The details:

Wednesday, October 25
4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
1150 First St. NE (the lot next to the all-glass Mathematica building)

We provide the pumpkins, you bring the creativity. Everyone is invited to carve or decorate a pumpkin (reserve yours here), experience cuteness in the petting zoo, get their face painted, and enjoy live music by local favorites King Street Bluegrass. We’ll have seasonal snacks, like apples and cheese, and water freely available. Additionally, Timber Pizza will be cooking up fresh pies and empanadas for purchase, as well as selling hot cider, beer, and wine. We hope to see you there!

PumpkinPalooza is sponsored by Advantage Financial Federal Credit Union.

October 12: Femme Fatale DC Pop-up Opens

Femme Fatale DC, a collective of local "womyn" creatives and entrepreneurs, will open its second pop-up shop experience at the former Union Social space, 100 Florida Ave. NE, on Thursday, October 12. (The unique spelling of "women" signifies the collective’s belief that each woman is completely whole on her own.) The shop will feature more than 50 local womyn-owned businesses, including fashion designers, visual artists, ceramicists, jewelry designers, boutiques, chefs, health and wellness curators, and more; the space will also host a vegan cafe. Shoppers and fans will be able to visit the pop-up Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and for special events on Sundays. Femme Fatale DC — for which the NoMa BID is proud to serve as a promotional sponsor — will run through December 24.

The launch party on October 11, however, is for LADIES ONLY. Interested in joining the fun? Get all of the details and your exclusive ticket right here.

Even More Outdoor Places in NoMa to Get Online

NoMa is the only D.C. neighborhood with free outdoor WiFi, and recently we expanded the network. Now you can access the internet across 26 block faces — including the corner of 3rd and L streets NE, where our first park is currently under construction. Soon you'll be able to check your e-mail while Fido enjoys romping with other neighborhood dogs, or catch up on your social networks as your child scrambles all over a very cool play structure. Happy web surfing!
