The Salon Professional Academy Opens in NoMa!

The beauty school franchise, The Salon Professional Academy (TSPA), has opened a new location in NoMa at 90 K Street NE!

TSPA DC is an ultra-modern, professional hair and beauty training facility. Best of all, the DC academy will initially offer Cosmetology with an Esthetics program to follow. TSPA schools offer education options; providing students access to scholarships and grants to invest in their professional development.

Tactical Urbanism at North Capitol Street and Lincoln Road

On Monday, February 13, DDOT invites you to a public meeting to discuss the Tactical Urbanism project at North Capitol Street and Lincoln Road, NE. 

The purpose of this project is to increase safety at the North Capitol/Lincoln Road, NE intersection through immediate, short-term improvements that will lead the way for a larger intersection safety project. DDOT will present a draft design concept and gather comments from the community at this public meeting.

When:  Monday, February 13, 2017 | Time:  6:30 pm to 8 pm

Next in Nerds: DC Arts​

The first in the Nerds in NoMa 2017 speaker series was a complete success and we can't wait to bring you our February panel focused on the Arts in DC. On Tuesday, February 21st join us as we explore DC Arts: Why is it important for DC to have an arts identity and how do you keep artists in the city? Panelists for this engaging discussion include Linnea Hagerty of DC Public Libraries, Julianne Brienza of Capital Fringe, Brandon Hill of No Kings Collective and Morgan West of A Creative DC.  

Make sure to follow the event Facebook page for updates on speakers and register here to secure your spot at the event.  As a reminder Nerds in NoMa is free and open to the public.

Learn About New York Avenue Streetscape and Trail Project

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) invites you to a public meeting on Thursday, February 23, 2017, from 6 pm through 8 pm to discuss the New York Avenue Streetscape and Trail Project. 

The purpose of this project is to develop design solutions for a streetscape and trail targeting multimodal, safety and aesthetic improvements along New York Avenue NE. DDOT will present design concepts and gather comments from the community at this public meeting.

When: Thursday, February 23, 2017, 6 pm to 8 pm (a brief presentation at 6:30 pm)

Where: Gallaudet University, I. King Jordan Student Academic Center - SAC, 800 Florida Avenue, NW

John & Jill Ker Conway Residence Open Their Doors
The John & Jill Ker Conway Residence opened their doors earlier this month. This great looking, new building was designed by DC architect Suman Sorg of Sorg Architects and built specifically for homeless veterans as part of the fight to end veteran homelessness in the District of Columbia. The 14-story project, comprised of 124 units, with 60 units of permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless veterans, 47 units of affordable housing for tenants at or below 60% area median income, and 17 units of affordable housing for tenants at or below 30% area median income. The building will also house management offices, a lounge, fitness center, conference space, ground floor retail, and on-site support services to address the social, medical, and emotional needs of its residents.

Camden NoMa II is Now Open!

The first move-ins at Camden's 2nd residential building in NoMa are already happening! After opening their doors earlier last week, residents are quickly moving into this luxury apartment building.  Units include gourmet kitchens, custom cabinetry, quartz countertops with glass mosaic backsplash, French door refrigerators with bottom freezer, and hardwood-style flooring. With each apartment, residents will also get a full-size washer and dryer as well as unique features like ARIA built-in speakers with Bluetooth and USB-enabled outlets.
