Mural Magic Back in NoMa, May 5–14

Popville called NoMa the "mural capital of D.C." last year, and we aim to keep the title. Led by D.C.'s very own Kelly Towles, POW! WOW! DC will bring another 10 days of public art–making and creativity to the neighborhood. The festival kicks off on Saturday, May 5, 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a party and community art event at both Wunder Garten and the lot at First and Pierce streets NE. Watch the POW! WOW! DC and NoMa BID websites for updates on walking tours, events, and more!

Nosh at Dock 5, Benefit a Boy's School

If you like your dining options with a side of philanthropy, you're in luck: NE Eats returns on Saturday, April 28, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dock 5 (Union Market). This annual celebration of neighborhood food and beverage provided by dozens of D.C. establishments also serves as a fundraiser for the Washington Jesuit Academy, a tuition-free school for young men grades 4–8 from underserved D.C. communities. Your $75 ticket includes unlimited food and beverage tastings, and children under 8 are free. Find out what vendors will be participating this year and reserve your ticket here.

Celebrate Earth Day a Little Early

Earth Day is officially April 22, but if you're in NoMa on April 19 you can learn about local companies, nonprofits, and organizations that are working to make the planet we call home a better place. Head to the lobby of 750 First St. NE (aka the APA building) between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Paddle the Potomac With REI

With a river lined by monuments, museums, historic neighborhoods, and national parks, D.C. is definitely among the most beautiful cityscapes in the country. Add some twilight and spring weather, and you've got yourself a gorgeous evening. Wouldn't it be wonderful to experience it from the water? On Friday, April 20, join REI Outdoor School instructors for an incredible paddling tour. They'll depart before dark on the Virginia side of the river and head upriver, passing beneath the Arlington Memorial Bridge to the Lincoln Memorial and getting close-up views of the Kennedy Center lit up at night. Find more information and RSVP here.

Nerds In NoMa 2018: That's a Wrap

The fifth season of Nerds In NoMa was as hilarious as it was informative. During four lively evenings, our panelists discussed making extra income through side hustles; navigating the dating scene in-person and online; understanding the world of podcasts; and getting outside, alone or as part of a team, to play in the urban space. Thank you to the outstanding participants and engaged audience members, and to our sponsors, Advantage Financial Federal Credit Union and Buredo. Have an idea for next year's slate of nerdy panels? Send them our way!
