MUSEUM'S NEW PLUMAGE
What a year this will be! The Museum opened its doors this spring with a new look. In addition to a fantastic new logo design depicting our iconic curlew all decked out in a festive hat in

anniversary year
, members will notice refinished floors, new carpeting throughout and a splash of color on our walls! Greeting our flock upon arrival is the magnificent sculpture,

, by Don Rambadt. Courtesy of Museum supporters, this magnificent and whimsical sculpture arches our garden entry path. Watch as two woodpeckers hop from place to place each time the Museum is open.
30th ANNUAL SPRING OPEN HOUSE
Many came out for the Spring Open House held on May 8th from noon to 4PM. Saw-whet owls by the winter carving class and other recent works by members were on display. So many carvers participated in this year’s event, our gallery space was filled to capacity! From antique style eider to contemporary turnstones, the display of birds wowed members and visitors. Our Carver-in-Residence, Steve Valleau, was on hand to demonstrate carving done in Gilley’s technique. It was a great kick off to an exciting new season here at the Museum.
GIRL SCOUTS FLOCK TOGETHER
For the second year in a row the Museum welcomed the Girl Scouts of Maine as they joined Museum Educator Jennifer Linforth to learn about owl ecology through dissecting owl pellets. This science of ‘grossology’ is wildly popular with students young and old and continues to be the Museum's leading environmental education program, in addition to a significant contributor to our community outreach efforts. This year as we introduce nature videos at the Museum on select days, owl pellets will be available for visitors to dissect as well. It’s only gross until the first bone is found!
