Dear <<First Name>>,
We are in the midst of our latest harvest season, which is looking to be a vintage of great quality and long aging potential. It is that ageability that inspired this offering, featuring magnum format bottles that amplify the complexity that comes from long cellaring. As you know, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest and most diverse domaines in Burgundy, producing wines from a vast array of appellations that are all stored in our cavernous cellars under the Bastions of the ancient Château de Beaune. For this release we combed through these cellars to assemble a never-before-seen offering of large format bottlings of both red and white Burgundy from four of our most historic appellations.
- Meursault ‘Genevrières’ 1er Cru 2017
- Beaune ‘Clos Saint-Landry’ 1er Cru 2017 - monopole
- Nuits-Saint-Georges ‘Les Cailles’ 2017
- Le Corton Grand Cru 2017
Each of these sites showcases rich, intense fruit concentration and some of the most terroir-driven profiles of any wines we produce. These distinctive notes are amplified in magnums, since such larger format bottles serve to enhance the beneficial effect of aging wines of great class and character.
These selections were curated specifically for our U.S. Patrons List, coming directly from our cellars with only a handful of bottles of each cuvée available. We recommend that you respond immediately with your order to ensure you have the opportunity to add these stunning wines to your cellar.

2017 was a spectacular vintage that provided both stunning quality that allowed us to bottle larger formats for further aging in our historic cellar. The spring and summer were warm and sunny, with heat spikes that caused intense stress in the vines. This stress created deeper concentration in the clusters and led to a harvest period of optimal ripeness and freshness. The Chardonnay wines from our domaine are extremely precise and mineral-driven in 2017 with the Pinot Noirs expressing rich fruity that has stunning silky notes.

Meursault ‘Genevrières’ 1er Cru 2017
The origin of the name of this appellation is tied to the juniper trees that were historically planted here. Genevrières has a long history as one of the most important Chardonnay crus in Burgundy, even referenced as a “Tête de cuvée'' in the historic 1855 classification of Dr. Lavalle. Our domaine owns and manages 2.65ha of this site; one of the first to be harvested every vintage. This has long been considered our flagship in Meursault due to its consistent high quality and the domaine’s history in this site.
Planted 100% to Chardonnay, the vineyard has an east-southeast facing slope that is gravelly, with clay and lime deposits and traces of iron. The grapes are harvested all by hand, with sorting done in the vineyard and cellar before processing. Grapes are pressed in two phases to extract juice that is balanced in its texture, intensity and elegance. Aging occurs in French oak vats for 9-10 months (up to 15% new) with 3-4 months of resting before bottling. This wine is intense and concentrated upon release with great aging potential, over 15 years in magnum formats.
- 93 points, Wine Advocate - “Youthfully reticent aromas of crisp Anjou pear, blanched almonds, Meyer lemon and hints of praline introduce the 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières, a medium to full-bodied, deep and tensile wine that’s impressively concentrated and nicely defined. This confirms its strong showing from barrel; indeed, the wine has gained in tension since I tasted it in December. While it’s a little shut down after its recent bottling, it should drink very well with a bit of bottle age.” - April 2019

Beaune ‘Clos Saint-Landry’ 1er Cru 2017 - monopole
Although rarely found west of Beaune, which is typically dominated by Pinot Noir, the oldest traces of Chardonnay in the village of Beaune are found in the appellation of Clos Saint-Landry. This vineyard site of 1.98h was purchased by Antoine Philibert Joseph Bouchard in 1791 and is solely owned, managed, and produced by Bouchard Père & Fils.
The vineyard site, farmed organically since 2015, is southeast facing and planted in soils of limestone and clay with marl threads that give a very distinctive characteristic to every vintage of Chardonnay. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand before a two-phase pressing system to extract a balance of fruit and structure. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is aged for 9-10 months in French oak (up to 15% new) with 3-4 months of further stainless-steel maturation. This wine has great aging potential, particularly in magnum, over 15 years when cellared properly.
- 95 points, Decanter Magazine - “A beautiful rare bird from Pinot Noir country with a muscular intensity balanced by refined elegance. Intense aromas of lemon curd, toasted almonds and apple peel announce a palate that is at once nervy and creamy. Precise structure but also an appealing roundness supported by rich flavours of almond croissant, yellow apple, poached pear and lemon pie. A hint of smoky sandal gives it an alluring exoticism.”

Nuits-Saint-Georges ‘Les Cailles’ 2017
Les Cailles is a climat situated in the very southern part of the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The profile of wines from this vineyard are more elegant and feminine than classic Nuits-Saint-Georges, due to the very unique terroir made of oolitic chalk – small pebbles formed by the concretion of chalk on hard stones. Bouchard Père & Fils owns 1.08ha within this east-southeast facing vineyard site that the Henriot family purchased in 1995.
100% Pinot Noir, the grapes are harvested manually in small cases to avoid premature crushing and oxidation of the fruit. The grapes are sorted rigorously before partial destemming and vatting for 15-20 days. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (40-50% new) for 12-14 months before bottling and resting. This stunning, full and fleshy cuvée has an aging potential of 7-10 years and over 20 years in magnum format.
- 93 points, Wine Spectator - “Dark and mysterious, with intense flavors of black currant, black cherry, licorice, mint and toast permeating the lush texture. The firm tannins build as this finishes long, echoing fruit and spice details. Best from 2021 through 2035” - November 2019
- $N/A per 1500ml magnum

Le Corton Grand Cru 2017
Perched in a prime location at the top of the hill of Corton, this Grand Cru site is one of the most historic vineyards in the world. The first traces of vineyards in the village of Aloxe-Corton date back to 200 B.C. and Le Corton was known to be a favorite of Charlemagne, adding to the long history of unmatched quality here. Our domaine manages 7.2ha in this site with roughly half planted with Chardonnay (Corton-Charlemagne) and half with Pinot Noir, comprised of limestone, clay soils with a stony, pebbly topsoil.
Pinot Noir clusters in Le Corton are harvested by hand and carefully sorted in both the vineyard and cellar before processing. After partial destemming, the juice is fermented in small containers with gentle pressing to ensure optimal vinification. This fermentation lasts approximately 3 weeks before 12-14 months in French oak barrels (40-50% new). This wine is elegant, yet intense, with balances of fruit and spice with more than 25 years of aging potential in magnum.
- 92-94 points, Vinous Media – “The 2017 Le Corton Grand Cru comes from 3.60 hectares at 280 meters above sea level, at the top of the slope, and is usually the last picked. It has an elegant, attractive bouquet of brambly red fruit, burned toast, truffle and a touch of smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded, fine tannin, well-judged acidity and a generous sophisticated, lightly spiced finish. A very refined Le Corton and one of the best crus from Bouchard in 2017.”
