Welcome to our first newsletter for 2017.
As we embark on another exciting year, we would like to wish all our members a very Happy New Year from everyone at NewCycling, and all the best for a successful 2017.
To kick off the year, we have a date set for the 2017 AGM on April 1st, see below for more details and hopefully we'll see lots of you there. We also have a New Year message from campaign chair, Katja; our response to Newcastle City Council's budget for 2017-18; and a report from the Space for Cycling event in Durham, where Peter and Claire did presentations.
Upcoming dates for the diary include:
- 1 April NewCycling AGM – Join us for the 2017 Newcastle Cycling Campaign AGM in Central Newcastle from 1.30pm: your chance to hear exactly what's going on, have your say, and get involved. Venue, programme and speakers to be announced.
Keep on pedalling!

New Year Message From The Chair – A Year Of REAL Debate

Council Budget 2017/18 Consultation – Our Reply
Our response to the Newcastle Budget 2017-18 is short, and based on previous years’ responses. We have consistently asked for the Council to prioritise sustainable transport infrastructure and deploy resources accordingly, and want to get involved helping plan for the future. NewCycling Speak At Space For Cycling Event
Organised by Cycling UK in Durham on January 21, with input from local campaigners, this event was aimed at spreading the word about Space for Cycling and sharing our experience and tips about cycling campaigning across the North East. There were presentations by Claire and Peter (NewCycling) and Karen (Trust Pathways), which can all be seen here.
