Looking forward and looking back…

Suddenly - or so it seems to me - it’s the second week of December and Christmas isn’t far away, likewise a new year. The run-up to Christmas can be a magical time - but it can also be stressful with that deadline looming - For me, I see it as a good time to look back, reflect on the past year and to make plans for the next. 2022 will be special for me, as it marks ten years since I first drew and painted the Tour de France. Plenty to look back on but also plenty to think about to develop my art and working practice, which is a little daunting but exciting too!

I try to enjoy the days running up to Christmas, especially the sunny ones, and to make the most of the daylight, as the days shorten. I take comfort in the fact that when Christmas Day comes, the sun has just packed its bags after its holiday in the beautiful south and is on its way back to the northern hemisphere to warm us up and open up the days with all the possibilities that come with Spring.

2021 has been a wonderful year for Mark Cavendish, who made a phenomenal return to form in the Tour de France, his favourite race. Wonderful memories of the Manx Missile as he reached a remarkable 34 stage wins. It was also a remarkable Euros tournament for England men’s team who reached the final and then broke our hearts yet again from the penalty spot - but it was a wonderful achievement nonetheless! Just two of my favourite events from 2021 - which were yours?

I want to say thanks so much for following and supporting my art and work over the years - It’s been an incredible journey, which I hope we continue to enjoy together in 2022 - There will be plenty going on - no doubt!

Merry Christmas when it comes and take time to relax, reflect and enjoy every moment along the way…

Best wishes
